no thats not what hes saying... that what YOU are saying..
the way i see it.. hes a 29year old player... one who was supposed to be recognized as one of the best in the world if he hadnt made a few wrong career choices at the wrong time... the only player in english club history outside Ronaldo to have won the world footballer of the year award... one who somehow ended up in a relegated side out of contract and desperately seeking a club...
one big club came in a decided to take a gamble on him.. he decided to sign for them.... he basicallyy had no other choice as far as im concerned... Hull isnt an option... theyr a terrible side and ill put my mortgage on them getting relegated unless they sign atleast 4 or 5 new players...
Manutd offer him a chance at making the worldcup squad.. a chance at playing CL football... a chance at winning silverware... more money ... one last go at the big stage before he retires... he'd be a fool to turn them down for Hull city....

Most of us, in his shoes, would have done the exact same thing... loyalty to Liverpool or not, at this stage in his career i doubt hed care more about what a section of the liverpool fanbase would think of him more than what actually would be best for him and his career...
do i blame him ? not at all... i wish him all the best and i hope this doesnt come back to bite us in the a$$...

Yes we understand the whole looking after his own career - most would be not people who have liverpool in their heart - he obviously doesnt give a monkeys about liverpool or the feeling from the fans .

Once again why would a liverpool fan want any man utd play to do well Ace - i dont want him to ever score a goal for man utd - ever .

Do you know what i actualt respect Tevez a bit now at least the lad came out an said it would be hard to come to us because of the respect he had for the fans and the club because of the rivalry, i dont even think that crossed Owens mind thats why everyone has turned against him, You have to think if it was Gary inbred who left the Mancs on a sour note an went abroad came back an we went in for him  knowing his hatred an the bitter rivalry between us , theres no way on gods earth he would come here , Thats what has destroyed Owen in our eyes

Ace the main problem people have with what your saying is your wishing him well and hope he does well - That means doing well at man utd and scoring goals for them and then doing better than us ?! surely you cant wish that and would rather he failed horribly and never scored a goal for them and flopped ?! which one would you prefer ?

yea i think he would have come to us if we had offered him a deal... Torres is our only forward and i could have see him getting used a whole lot either alongside Torres when needed or as a replacement when Torres isnt playing... Same as the deal Manutd are offering him.. dont think he'd be starting the season as their main striker ahead of Rooney and Berbatov or whoever they sign.. he'll come on for some games and if he impresses he keeps his spot.. simple really

as for wanting him to do well... dont think it has anything to do with Liverpool... i said i hope he does well because i think hes a good player and was a waste of talent when he was at Newcastle (despite scoring 30 goals in 65 starts) and at Madrid's bench (where he scored 16 goals mostly as sub)....
Hope he scores goals.. not enough for them to win the league but enough for him to get atleast some of his lost reputation back... hes done well when he was at liverpool and for that he'll be remembered...

good little player and one we idiotically imo missed out on...

We missed out on nothing ...

Rafa is NOT an idiot. There are better strikers out there worth the wages that he is getting paid for us. We cannot afford every tom, dick and owen under the sun who remains injured for more than half the frickin season.

No one doubts that he will score a few goals. But he will get injured. I am NOT wishing that he does - his body cannot take the pace of this game anymore.

Owen is on "a pay as you go" type contract. He is a backup and his only intention is to get into the England squad. Somehow, he thinks that playing a bit part role for Man U will secure that spot with Capello. What he doesn't realise is that Capello just does not rate him anymore and he will not be playing regularly - unless Mancs sell Berba.

Yes mate, we would rather get free transfers like Degan who is never injured or Voronin a top class striker, why would we want someone who is injured for half a season when we can have one who is injured ALL SEASON  :D

Degen is a flop, Rafa admits it and all of us know it. Rafa is learning from his mistakes.

Voronin was quickly dispatched with, back on loan to Germany.

And more importantly, atleast we tend to have a laugh at these guys (although in true LFC fan spirit this is not appropriate).

Do you really want Owen's anfield legacy turned into a laughing stock by the same fans that worshipped him - because our worst founded fears come true in that he joins the permanently injured (resting on the beach) lot?

Let him go, we will remember him for the good and bad memories - but he is a part of our History, not our future :)

Why didnt he give Rafa a season ?

Why did he sign for newcastle if he wanted to sign for us ?

Do you think he has ever truely had liverpool in his heart saint ?

He didn't give Rafa a season, because he didn't believe in Rafa's ideas (same as Carra and Gerrard didn't!)

He signed for Newcastle because we couldn't afford the transfer fee.

I think more to the point is did Liverpool fans ever have Owen in their hearts.

Do you think half the players that play for us are playing because they love Liverpool? Try offering them £20k a week less and see how much they love Liverpool!

Owen destroyed his own career the day he left us, he has, and never will be the player he once was, he is just a spent force now signing for the scum wont revive his flagging career....but it will destroy any affection or respect LFC fans ever had for him....i hope he dose not play against us coz' the he wis in for a big shock if he thinks the LFC fans will applaud him....he will get the message alright, but it wont be one he will like!. :no

But what about those players that came up through the ranks saint - those players that were coached and honed by liverpool and turned into world class players - Carra and Gerrard both stayed because they believed in the club - owen didnt - while he was at liverpool owen was idolised . i still liked him when he went to madrid cause i did understand why - Owen could of turned down newcastle and then he could of come to us but he didnt .

Another question - do you want him to do well ?

Would that be basic wage? We are not including bonuses and appearance fees are we? From what I recall, he scored goals at madrid and was still dropped. Only a part of the picture is being shown there.

Owen wanted to sign for Liverpool for less money than Newcastle were offering him ....... FACT

He signed for £16m. For Newcastle. There was no way in hell any other team was going to pay that. And again, would that be basic wage compared to what Liverpool were offering? Bonuses and the like would appeal to owen if he joined newcastle, it made sense. Appearance fees alone would satisfy him as he would make money from not being injured.

Owen could get more money at Hull (guaranteed) than with the mancs ........ FACT

By signing for the mancs, it increases his chances for appearing for england and therefore enhancing his chances of sponsorship deals and trebling the income hull have offered.

Maybe im just being a bitter supporter, but what he has done is shallow and I do wish him the worst for the coming season, two opportunities he had with us, and he declined them both. Move over Davina, Owen has stolen your spot.

Owen could very easily have turned down the Newcastle offer and IF he really wanted, request for neogtiations with LFC. The Newcattle offer was a spanner thrown in for good measure by a doomed club - Madrid wouldn't give a rats :censored: as long they made a profit from the deal. It's not as if the extra £3m that Newcattle were offering would make any difference to their balance.

I think he was less of a gamble than signing Voronin, Degan or N'gog.

Fergie has not got a reputation for signing has beens, and I am pretty sure that Owen will score more goals next season than Voronin and N'gog combined.

Infact if our club had any business sense, they could probably have made Owen's wages back in image rights and shirt sales in Asia.

All owen ever cared about was playing for England, with him it has always been a case of "country before club"...he was more worried about missing England games than missing club games for the respective clubs he has played for....and that includes us. He is hoping that by being in the limelight at manure he will get noticed by capello and regain a place in the England squad for next years world cup.....the selfish little tw@t!!. :nod

We couldn't even raise the £10million we offered for Owen (Moores had to step in) Newcastle offered £16/17million. Do you think Madrid would just accept £7MILLION LESS just because its Liverpool

He was told if he didn't go to Newcastle he would be sat on the bench all season in Spain mate. You might not like what Owen has done but try keeping to the facts.
