Ace you support Man U mate?

No kiddo... we should have signed him because we could have used him... same reason why Manutd got him....

ffs theres no point even trying to use logic with you lot its pointless really....

keep up the hes a kunt shouts... why the fck would he sign for Utd when he also had the mighty Hull after him ?!  :Oo:

Are you familiar with rivalry? If Owen joined Everton, would we be as fussed? no, although our local rivals, he supported them as a kid, and so in the current day, to stay in the premiership it made sense. Lets also look at our other "legends" Lawrenson, joined preston, Aldridge finished at tranmere, Barnes played for charlton. The point being, they tried something different but always have Liverpool at heart. Owen has performed the ultimate betrayal. Even if he spends the entire season injured, regardless of the costs of wages, ferguson must be laughing his head off. He has managed to get under our skin before the season has even started.

Ace the main problem people have with what your saying is your wishing him well and hope he does well - That means doing well at man utd and scoring goals for them and then doing better than us ?! surely you cant wish that and would rather he failed horribly and never scored a goal for them and flopped ?! which one would you prefer ?

yea i think he would have come to us if we had offered him a deal... Torres is our only forward and i could have see him getting used a whole lot either alongside Torres when needed or as a replacement when Torres isnt playing... Same as the deal Manutd are offering him.. dont think he'd be starting the season as their main striker ahead of Rooney and Berbatov or whoever they sign.. he'll come on for some games and if he impresses he keeps his spot.. simple really

as for wanting him to do well... dont think it has anything to do with Liverpool... i said i hope he does well because i think hes a good player and was a waste of talent when he was at Newcastle (despite scoring 30 goals in 65 starts) and at Madrid's bench (where he scored 16 goals mostly as sub)....
Hope he scores goals.. not enough for them to win the league but enough for him to get atleast some of his lost reputation back... hes done well when he was at liverpool and for that he'll be remembered...

good little player and one we idiotically imo missed out on...

For the same reason Lucas Neill signed for West Ham when the mighty Liverpool were after him - for more £££££.

Roughly translated into a money grabbing :censored:.

:D

brilliant that... same was said about Teves, Barry, now Owen... guess any player who doesnt sign for Liverpool even if we're not in for him is a money grabbing kunt eh ?!

and ffs... you really think anyone with half a brain would pick Hull over ManUtd ?!

its a pathetic argument

No not really.

I don't class Mikel Arteta as a money grabbing :censored: or Tim Howard or Ricardo Fuller or a million and one other players who haven't signed for Liverpool.

Those like Tevez (notice the Z not S) who has refused to join Liverpool because of the rivalry I don't class as a money grabbing :censored:. He wants regular first team football and he knows he wouldn't get that at United. At City he would, although the rivalry is there so I don't really understand it.

Barry wanted Champions League football and signed for a team not in any European competition because he's a money grabbing :censored:. As is Owen. As is Neill.

For :censored: sake who with half a brain would choose West Ham over Liverpool?

Get your head out your :censored: and stop pretending like Michael Owen is some sort of flawless man. To many kids growing up he was their idol, he was mine as well you know but I know a money grabbing :censored: when I see one. So face facts.

He will never be talked about in the same light as those players....owen will be remembered as a greedy self egoistic man whose loyalty lies with whoever will pay him the most money....regardless of how many games he can stay injury free from.  :veryangry

We missed out on nothing ...

Rafa is NOT an idiot. There are better strikers out there worth the wages that he is getting paid for us. We cannot afford every tom, dick and owen under the sun who remains injured for more than half the frickin season.

No one doubts that he will score a few goals. But he will get injured. I am NOT wishing that he does - his body cannot take the pace of this game anymore.

Owen is on "a pay as you go" type contract. He is a backup and his only intention is to get into the England squad. Somehow, he thinks that playing a bit part role for Man U will secure that spot with Capello. What he doesn't realise is that Capello just does not rate him anymore and he will not be playing regularly - unless Mancs sell Berba.

So you want a man utd player to score goals ?!?! you must be the only liverpool fan to want such a thing . Why the hell would a liverpool fan want a man utd player to have anything positive - i bet you ask every single liverpool fan if they wanted owen to even score one goal wearing that shirt and i bet 99.999999999% would say not in a million years - it would only be you that wants owen to do well at Man Utd to get back "lost reputation" - well whose fault is it he lost that reputation then ? his own - 30 goals in 4 seasons at newcastle at  a cost of 36 million ?!?! yeah he really paid that back to newcastle didnt he - always getting himself fit for england . the guy has no loyalty to his club

and no he wouldnt of come to us cause he would of been back up plain and simple - he wouldnt of started instead of torres or gerrard and would of only been used in CC or for the last ten mins in prem games . SO he would of turned us down . His career at top clubs is over and can put a tenner on him doing feck all for the mancs . he would of been better going to a blackburn or a hull or helping repay newcastle all that money they forked oout for him and helping them back into the prem - now that would of earnt peoples respect and he would of got his reputation back - now he will only be seen as a mercenary little t.wa.t out for himself only .

Greavesie wrote:Ace I appreciate what you're saying but at the same time what he's effectively saying is that he doesn't give a feck about us or what the hell we think. He's washed his hands of any ties he had with our club in the worst possible way. And YOU want to wish him well.

no thats not what hes saying... that what YOU are saying..
the way i see it.. hes a 29year old player... one who was supposed to be recognized as one of the best in the world if he hadnt made a few wrong career choices at the wrong time... the only player in english club history outside Ronaldo to have won the world footballer of the year award... one who somehow ended up in a relegated side out of contract and desperately seeking a club...
one big club came in a decided to take a gamble on him.. he decided to sign for them.... he basicallyy had no other choice as far as im concerned... Hull isnt an option... theyr a terrible side and ill put my mortgage on them getting relegated unless they sign atleast 4 or 5 new players...
Manutd offer him a chance at making the worldcup squad.. a chance at playing CL football... a chance at winning silverware... more money ... one last go at the big stage before he retires... he'd be a fool to turn them down for Hull city....

Most of us, in his shoes, would have done the exact same thing... loyalty to Liverpool or not, at this stage in his career i doubt hed care more about what a section of the liverpool fanbase would think of him more than what actually would be best for him and his career...
do i blame him ? not at all... i wish him all the best and i hope this doesnt come back to bite us in the a$$...

Yes mate, we would rather get free transfers like Degan who is never injured or Voronin a top class striker, why would we want someone who is injured for half a season when we can have one who is injured ALL SEASON  :D
