Owen to man u on a free - Have we missed a trick?

The Premiership - General Discussion

This is the final straw. He was my boyhood here when I was the tender age of 7, 8 and 9.
I had posters of him all over my room. Had his name on my first ever shirt.
Went to my first match and got his signature. Treasured it until today.

His leaving to madrid was hard for me to take, it hurt, but at the time they were something of a fabled team. A European giant with "Galacticos". A world-beating team. As hard as it was to admit, it seemed a small (understandable) step forward.

But this. This is the final nail in a long-closed coffin.
Now for it to be buried and long-forgotten.

I don't care about his goal-scoring record for us and the FA Cup he won almost single-handedly.
M. Owen will never be remembered as a Liverpool Legend in my household.
THERE WILL BE LIFE AFTER TORRES:

Crying here Heimdall , absolutly briiliant

Owen was never really a fans favourite at liverpool in the same way that gerrard and fowler are. Even torres seems more loved by the fans after just two seasons than owen ever had. Those players endeer themselves to the fans with genuine passion and commitment to the club that owen never showed and the manner in which he left the club just prooved hes lack of commitment. This and the fact that his transfer fee was what paid for alonso are why i've never looked back since we sold him. Imo it was a worse act on his part to go to madrid given the timing of it. Besides, i think alonso made us a better team than owen would have.
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

This is what he said..

"I am now looking forward to being a Manchester United player and I am fortunate that I already know so many of the players here. I missed pre-season last year and am pleased that I will be starting at Carrington from day one.

"I want to thank Sir Alex for the faith he has shown in me and I give him my assurance that I will repay him with my goals and performances”

Even in his heyday, Fowler was still me hero.  We dont need Owen.  That ship sailed a long time ago.  We've moved onto bigger and better things.  I would of been more worried about Utd if they signed Benzema.  Owen is past it.

Well its happened, and I can't really believe it. Signed a 2 year deal. A Liverpool hero going to the Mwanckers. He's just top class sc*m now.

With regards Didi Hamman, my sentiments are the same as that of Nanny Red, and I to hope that a good club comes in for him.

Im delighted that they signed him...my respect for him as a player and a man was gone long ago!
Some people can say you cant forget what he done for us..probably true!

BUT..I also cant forget that LFC is not in Owens heart..hes not Robbie Fowler or Carra or Stevie G.
Hes Michael Owen for himself..he does not have a club in his heart..he has ££ there and now it seems his own ego!

Anyway..hes as much threat to us at UTD as he was at Newcastle or would have been at Hull. Some on here hold on to the player he was years ago and think he can re capture that form..NEVER in a million years, hes injury prone and past his best.
Also taken into account that this Valencia guy that the Scum have signed for about £16m..I think Fergie is loosing it now!
Valencia has been brought in to replace Ronaldo,Valencia scored SIX goals last season..huge hole there to cover when Ronaldo was banging them in...Tevez is off and Owen is in!
Where are the goals gonna come from from them lot?

Fergie was beaten to Benzema by Madrid..it seems a panic to me that he signed Owen.
Yeah they have a lot to spend from selling greaseball..or have they?.The signing of Owen on a free would indicate that the funds are being used to pay off their debts.

Ah well they always have the prolific Rooney on the left and Berbatov! :D

Anyone seen the new Man U top by the way, it looks like something from Star Trek!  :D
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
