They'll probably link the player with whoever his agent hints that he wants to sign for, that's the way it usually happens. This of course is the easiest way to put this "speculation" to bed, the player just comes out and says "I ain't going anywhere".

Perhaps our two central midfielders have siad this and the press missed it.

I know Im going to get lambasted for this but if we could get £20m for Mascherano I would take it. He's good enough defensively but that is it as far as Im concerned. His passing is 10/15 yard give it to someone else to sort and his other attacking ability is frankly zero. Last season he spent a fair few games on the bench and Im not sure Rafa is that struck by him. There is no argument for me that Alonso leaving would effect the club far more than the departure of Mascherano.

I would have to say that although Alonso had the more productive season of the two Mascherano has world class intangibles that should set him apart from alonso, Mascherano is probably the best defensive minded midfielder in world football atm, a position which is not that easy to replace. For Liverpools sake if they had to sell one, In my opinion they should go and sell alonso, but as a utd supporter, I hope they sell Mascherano. :D

Alonso leaves depends on Villa

Not sure if this is true but if in fact Alonso will only leave if Madrid do not get Villa then we are doomed as we will have less time to find a replacement. Also, i don't like us being dependent on Madrids decision. Why is this happening? I hope Rafa will play hard ball and raise the bar as we shouldn't get messed with like we are some small club.

That's it though the ball's in our court , if rafa doesn't want to sell ,he doesn't have to .

Lets look at this logically for a mo .

1, Madrid could't match Valencia's valuation of Villa the other day .So why would they pay £35 million for another midfielder.

2, Madrid have a shed load of central midfielders anyway .

3, Madrid are now looking to there defense after the signings of Ronaldo and Kaka . That's why there after Albert.

4,Madrid haven't sold one of there surplus players yet , so they are obviously struggling to offload there own players . So why by more players to make your squad even bigger and more unhappy .

5, It's up to Rafa , and he will know that breaking up the second best central midfield partnership (iniesta and xavi are marginally better) will be madness ,so i think he will do his best to keep hold.

Do you know what i cant get my head around is Arby wanting to go to Madrid, well sopposedly, if he feels Johnson is a threat an he wont get a regular game, then why put himself up against Ramos. I think hed get more games here than he would being in direct compertition with Ramas,

Maybe he probably feels that if he is second choice behind Ramos but he's back in Real Madrid, it's better than being second choice and also in a foreign country. Real might offer better wages and also cost of living surely won't be as expensive in Madrid? And he was also a Real Madrid youngster... anyway I do agree that he has more of a chance playing here and I'm sure even after we brought in Johnson rafa would like to do some of his favourite R thing... Arby might still be able to play 10-15 games...

I mean like if he really wants to be taken seriously for a shout in Spains world cup team then surely he wont get much playing time at Madrid , being in direct compo with Ramos, hed have more of a shout staying here imo, Anyway were frecking better than them

Think you should stick to your own and do one or are Utd's forums so dull you have to get some stimulating discussion elsewhere?

I totally agree but the one thing I worried is if the player doesn't want to be here, it will only hurt us more as we don't have the luxury of another player who can do what Alonso does. I don't want Xabi to leave cause he signed my Alonso shirt when he came to HK  :D . Seriously, it is out of our hand and will wait and see.

This is the same question i have in mind. Maybe Rafa sees or knows something we don't about Arby. If Rafa didn't buy Arby, he would probably be still playing for some unknown small club let alone playing for Spain....The chances of him playing here is also greater. There simply is no chance Arby will be playing ahead of Ramos. You guys think Arby waiting to leave is due to his on field clash with Carra? It seems to me thing were boiling long before the actual event.....

At the end of the day he isn't going to start here as much as he did last season now we have Johnson so he probably feels slightly marginalised.
