I don't buy it mate, the press would have been all over it but they hardly said a word, a few rumours is all.

like i say, i know for fact that he was offered a deal.
He wouldn't have been considering it otherwise.

Gareth Barry has claimed that he rejected the chance to join Liverpool in favour of a £12million move to Manchester City amid fears of becoming a victim of Rafael Benítez's rotation policy at Anfield.

Barry implied yesterday that he was concerned he may have been asked to play out of position by Benítez, rather than in his preferred role in central midfield, and was worried about how that would affect his place in Fabio Capello's England team before the World Cup finals in South Africa next summer.

“The World Cup next year has always been a major part of my thinking,” said Barry, who flew to Almaty with the England squad yesterday morning before their qualifying match against Kazakhstan on Saturday.

“I feel at Manchester City I will get the chance to play regularly in my best position and play a big part in a successful side.” City are understood to have clinched the deal in Dubai last week, when a club delegation met Barry, who was on holiday with family and friends.

Actually i must confess I think Ibrhamovic is rubbish as well. In the big matches he disappears. If he was 3/4 even as good as he thinks he is, then he'd be World class. Unfortunately he isn't, he's about 2/3 as good, which just means he's a fairly decent player.

ibrahimovic is a good player, world class? i dunno about that... anyway, one thing is for sure, his ego is too big for his own good.

he does have a huge ego, but he certainly proves on a consistent basis that hes one of the best players in the world... he scored 25 goals in 35 appearances last season.. come on now ! whats even more impressive in the manner in which he scores, absolutely amazing player to watch... add to that the several assists (pretty sure he got to double digits) and the fact that more often than not he's his teams only attacking threat and its hard to argue that hes one of the best in the world... Mourinho certainly thinks so !
Hope Manutd dont go for him, he's a 80mill target of theirs last time i checked  :D
Im pretty sure that if he moves to one of the top top clubs in Europe (Barcelona, Madrid, ManUtd, Chelsea) he'd win the Bollon Dór...
The whole 'big games' thing (only in the champions league) i can understand, but the fact that all the big clubs mark him out of games knowing that Inter dont have much besides him when going forward certainly makes things much harder for him... from what i've seen of him against the top clubs in the CL he always tries to do everything on his own in the final third... carrying th ball, dribbling past a ferw players then trying the seemingly impossible to try and score.... Put him in a Barcelona side and im pretty sure he'd be talked about more than Henry, Etoo, maybe even Messi....

So where in that statement does the headline come from cause there is no mention what so ever of liverpool and rejecting them .

Yes ibrahimovich scored a lot of goals in serie a - will that league is pretty poor in comparrison to the spanish and German and the prem - Every time he has come up against an opposition of some sort of decent level he has failed poorely - world cups , euros , CL - 4 games against English clubs and he was one of the worst players on the pitch - yep he has loads of little flicks and lovely touches but he is just a flat track bully of the highest kind who cant perform against players of a high standard .

He may well move to Barce and score loads against most of the small teams but put hiim up against a decent defender and he disappears . I have heard pundit after pundit describe him as such . Massive ego who falls flat on his face when faced with someone decent .

I have seen people say the same thing i have on this board and various other boards plus many pundits and commentators - he fails against decent opposition Ace - the eveidence is there . Man Utd can buy him but i bet he wouldnt have the impact of Torres . Would have the same sort of impact as Berbatov has . Score the odd lovely goal against the weaker teams but against the stronger teams would disappear just like he always has . HE can go to spain and do the same there - score and shine against the weaker teams - against the stronger teams he would disappear - He is no doubt a decent good player but nowhere near the world class standard of torres villa etc .

to be fair, it's all those shi tty team which we fasiled to score against that have been the problem for the last XX years, and probably cost us the title

We definitely need players who don't think scoring against stoke or fulham is somehow beneath them

Very true Doc but is that not more to do with the chances created as opposed to the chances not being taken ?
