I see the kuyt first touch crept into a post about Silva yesterday ?!

In between Landos various expletives that he seems to explode onto the board with he does come out with a few gems . Forum Oracle seems pretty spot on to me

As I said I quite like it too mate. If you wish to refer to me as the forum oracle, then that's your perogative. I'm flattered by the acolade even though I'm not sure it's deserved  :buttrock

As for "technical ability", "rotation", "Kuyts first touch" and the like, I just put them in to make sure you're still reading 'em

The fact that rafa has publicly declared that we will make one more big signing, and we don't need to sell to fund it, leads me to think that either masch or alonso WILL go.

I think rafas declaration has been made to avoid the public outcry that we need to sell to buy, when we do sell

How much money could Rafa have to spend this summer??

I wonder if his new contract said that he has TOTAL control over his squad, thus meaning he can fund ANY player transfers he wants, ??

If he is forced into a wholesale squad change, he could sell,
Xabi £25
Mascha £25
Dossena £5M
Arbeloa £5M
Babel    £7M

thats £67M to find players to fill in the question marks below, i'm just using the standard 2 players for every position reasoning.

                                              Pepe/Cavalieri

Johnson/??????         Carra/?????????                      Agger/Skrtl                Fabio/Insua

                               Lucas/?????????              ??????????/Spearing

Kuyt/Yossi                         Gerrard/Yossi                                         Riera/Yossi

                                       Torres/Ngog

That'll be some shopping list,
I've watched my Heroes throught the slats at Melwood,,
I've STOOD on the KOP,,
I've cried for the 96 ,,

Don't EVER question my loyalty or support.

If we get Silva, Saviola and a decent replacement for Sami, we will be some team.

Silva is just the type of player we need - he is basically the Aimar of 2009, and will help us no end against the sit-back merchants.

Saviola - he's a lot better than I feel he is getting credit for on here. He hasn't had an easy time of it recently, but when you actually look at the players he is competing with, there's no shame in not being first choice.

As I have said previously - I can only comment on what I have seen of the lad, and when I saw him play for Barca he was easily the man of the match, despite Xavi and Ronaldinho being in the same team and at their peak. He scored 2 goals that day - a couple of headers.

I think he'd be a brilliant second striker for us, particularly if the price was right.

I think you're forgetting that Mascher and Alonso are probably without equal in their respective positions.

Certainly, anyone approaching their ability would not be up for sale at anything like the price we would be looking to buy them for.

Well, I think we have to assume 2 different scenerio. 1 is what Rafa had mentioned, he said that he can get one more player provided that everyone is staying. 2 is if in fact either Mas or Xabi leaves, then we definitely need a top replacement with respect their individual skill.
For the first scenerio, I would say Rafa would probably trying to get an adequate back up quality striker. I wish we could get someone like Klose as he can provide us with a target man that is very good in the air. As for scenerio 2, this would be a very difficult situation. Again, if Barca comes in offering Yaya and 20million, I would take the offer. Otherwise, if we just take a straight cash offer of 35million, it would be very difficult to find someone similar to Mas quality. I would suggest Rafa would get someone temporary like a Senna and then take his time find someone to succeed Senna rather than just splash out the cash unnecessary. Hopefully there is cash available for a CB and a RM. That would give us a very balanced lineup.

Rafa said we can sign 1 top player WITHOUT selling anyone...
Im no brain surgeon or rocket scientist or anything but wouldnt selling either Mascherano or Alonso and adding whatever we get to what we have mean mean that we can atleast sign 2 top players with what we got ?!

Again, regardless of what happens with either Alonso or Mascherano, i think our top priority from here on in the transfer market has to be a top attacking player...

Best case scenario the way i see it is if we manage to make a deal with Barcelona where Toure comes to Liverpool and they give us 15-20mill along with that, we use that money and whatever we have now to bring in a world class forward like Villa, Etoo, Aguero or something...

The main question is how would YOU accomodate this "Versatile" striker of yours then without a) Dislodging Riera b) Completely changing the formation and c) Making 1 or more players spend more time than they would like on the bench?

This could be interesting as last time I checked 12 into 11 just does not go. Something has got to give and at this point in time for me that would either be Riera or a change in formation.

maxi rodriguez from atletico. Apparently, rejected a contract from atletico. Let alonso go for 25-30m and get this guy. Him and mascherano in the middle. Can overlap with stevie. Telegraph saying redknapp is pursuing him for 4m. Seriously cheap.

Would allow us to get silva aswell without spending any dough from our budget. Some Team
