you can mention xavi and fabregas and i would say i would swap them with xabi every day of the week .

i dont want a 32 year old coming to the club for over 10 million for him to only play one season maybe not even that . the rest all perform wonderful on football manager but any time i have seen them they certainly dont live up to their supposed reputation .

in my eyes Masher is the best destructive DM in the world so there is no one i want to replace him but if we had to i would pick essien - better than any you have mentioned, . and there is only a couple of people i woould want to replace Xabi -  three of them are spanish - Iniesta,Xavi and Fabregas  , then van der  vaart and snejder .

Well i dont think you've seen enough of them to be honest Gybs...
Aquilani and DeRossi are 2 of the most sought after midfielders in the world... theyve been linked to pretty much every single  big club in world football so theres got to be something that everyone besides you sees in them...
Essien is better than both, not far from Gerrard, so are Xavi, Iniesta, DeRossi, Fabregas...
Seedorf, Gago, Toulolan and Aquilani would all make good replacements if Alonso or Mascherano leave... imo...
and this whole football manager bullsht is getting pretty old... grow the fck up...

So what if they are sought after that doesnt mean they are world class players -

They are the normal names you see banded around - nothing new but seen them plenty of times and none of them make you go wow they are special and world class - xavi, fabregas etc you do say that.

And the football manager comment is pretty apat because they are the players that no doubt have the great stats but on a field they seem to disappoint .

ffs are you trying to tell me that you watch the Italian league ?!
For starters anyone who thinks Ibrahimovic isnt world class sure as hell hasnt seen enough of the guy to judge..
DeRossi and Aquilani do perform admirably more often than not and hence the reputation.. i doubt the Barcelona management would be willing to fork out 30mill or whatever it is to bring in DeRossi just because hes good in football manager ... Seedorf is always one of the better performers for Milan, dont care if hes 32, he still has it... hes one of those players that make you sit up and take notice... if you dont see it then, again, you probably havent seen enough of him.. Pretty much the same with Cambiasso... you cant just say theyr not good enough because i say theyr not... because obviously you havent seen them play enough.. and no, 2 champions league games a season dont count ...

I'll watch anything that involves both of the top  7 or 8 teams. Sometimes I will watch a game that is just Milan vs. some cr@p team or something, but rarely.

I tried watching the weekly wrap-up of Serie A, but it is really bad quality and plays annoying music throughout, and like makes it look more like a youtube video with colorizing stuff and showing the same slo-mo replay of  some trick a bunch of times, and not even telling you who the goalscorer was

i can say with 100% certainty we did try to sign Barry and he chose Man city over us.

Reasons - Double the money, 1st team football (thus england place) and captaincy

GYBS wrote:Veleso is a decent shout - very talented player , De La Red i really liked during euros and when he was on loan but how has he got in at madrid this year ? he looks very good . Banega had a massive reputation and valencia paid a lot of money for him but went out on loan so what happened to him ?

its a shame baraja or abdleda arent younger cause would snap them up in a flash

De La Red collapsed and had a heart problem that ruled him out for the whole season. Its questionable if he can play again. Would need a serious look from a physio before he would be worth bringing in. But on the same note, this has to seriously lower his price.

Banega and Gago have both not lived up to their reputations, and I would hope that both their fees would reflect that if we were to go after either one of them. Banega was on loan to Atleti and actually had a decent # of appearances, although I didn't see him much when I watched Atletico. I think he has a tremendous amount of talent, and I think he would flourish under Rafa. However, I think the ideal condition would be for him to apprentice under Mascherano for at least a season, but if Masch is the one to leave, obviously that cannot happen.  Gago, Banega, and Macherano were all teammates at the Olympics. Surely it must have been the most talented trio of defensively capable central midfielders in the history of the Olympics.

So im guessing you've seen enough of De Rossi, Aquilani, Perrotta, Ibrahimovic, Seedorf, Cambiasso, Melo, Kuzmanovic....

How would you rate them ? You think the likes of De Rossi, Aquilani, Cambiasso and Ibra are overrated ?!

Melo had an outstanding season so im not sure if its a one-off or if hes really that good... but hes been doing pretty good with the Brazilian side so theres got to be something about him... Kuzmanovic was great a couple of seasons ago, still did pretty good this season but Melo was their outstanding player in the middle...
Still though, hard to argue imo that De Rossi and Cambiasso are two of the best in the world in their positions...

My realistic choices would be Inler or Montolivo.  Don't think that we can get guys like De rossi or Cambiasso.  Their clubs would demand too much money.

I don't buy it mate, the press would have been all over it but they hardly said a word, a few rumours is all.
