Tevez anyone?

For me our best XI plus Tevez on the left opposite Kuyt would be an improvement and leave fergie with no additional money towards replacing Tevez AND Ronaldo from their side. fergie may have to completely revamp his side with Ronaldo gone and with Giggs, Scholes and nobhead at RB fading towards retirement. Maybe that has been his mistake, not fully replacing the 'old guard' by now, gradual transition makes it more likely you will stay at the top than (near) complete overhauls.

He'll end up at City because he wants to stay in this country and his family are settled in the North West.

The money they are asking for is too much imo. Yes he's a very good player but nowhere near as good as some like to make out. He doesn't score enough, his best position is the same as Gerrard's and we have far more important positions we need to address first.

I respect it, but with that mentality Barça never would have signed a frustrated Eto´o from Real Madrid.

We are always going to be outbid by the other interested parties , it's just up to Tevez if he wants to be at the best club in the world.

Yep. Ultimatley it is down to the player himself as he is not tied to any club. If he goes to City you can only assume it is for finaincial purposes only, that and the promise they will embark on a human version of Champ Manager with unlimited funds.  :D

I'm not too fussed if he doesn't come but if he did it would be a great coup.

If Rafa has 25-30 to spend, I´d blow the lot on Tevez.

With a midfield of Alonso, Masher, Kuyt/Benny on the right, Tevez/Albert on the left and Stevie G and Torres up front........ lordie lordie we´re win win everything in sight including the boat race.

I think the left is arguably the position most in need of improvement, that and maybe RB which is ok or we wouldn't have conceded less than 30 goals in the league (and scored the most of all clubs so something must be right)

Maybe we should bid £25m for Rooney, well if whiskeynose is going to bid pittance for our players then we should give him a taste of it too (his own medicine, not whiskey as he is all familiar with that taste)

Tevez tells Ferguson he's not coming back =  Monday June 15 2009

Sir Alex Ferguson's attempt to keep Carlos Tevez at Old Trafford is having little tangible effect after the Argentine told the Manchester United manager directly in the past few days that he wants to leave.

Ferguson, it is understood, has stepped up his attempts to persuade the striker that he does have a future with United by making several telephone calls from his holiday on the Cote d'Azur. But Tevez has been more direct with Ferguson than at any time in the past three months, reiterating that he is still intent on leaving.

That means a move across Manchester still looks on the cards. City remain well ahead of Liverpool in their pursuit of the player, with the Premier League runners-up looking to schedule any transfer payment over four instalments and unable to come close either to the sum or the wages which City could offer. City's unconfirmed offer is £140,000 per week – a reflection that Tevez has proven ability to deliver in the Premier League.

Chelsea are also believed to be a contender for his services, yet United have not given up all hope of Tevez remaining with them. Cristiano Ronaldo's departure, which should advance with his Real Madrid medical in the next few days, creates a greater chance for Tevez to start more major games next season.

Suggestions that Franck Ribéry might be heading to Old Trafford do not tally with the noises emerging from the club and it is possible that Ferguson may settle for the signing of Wigan Athletic's Luis Antonio Valencia, which would leave Tevez as a more integral part of United's strikeforce. That, allied to the fact that he would be sacrificing Champions League football by moving to City and his attachment to the United fans, may play on his mind. But the major impediment now, as United see it, is the difficulty of detaching the player from his representatives, whose financial interest is the most decisive factor.

Ferguson at least need not fear losing Nemanja Vidic, despite interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. "I am very happy here and next season we will start again. I have got no desire to go anywhere," Vidic said yesterday. "People forget that when you join a new league you don't just have to adjust to the country, you also have to adjust to the style of football."

Looks like it really is between us and City then. Some rumors suggesting that we have Saviloa and it will be announced next week. If that was the case then I can't see us really wanting to waste any time trying for Tevez. Unless of course we are waiting to first hear if he will choose us and Saviloa is backup.
