yoga is great. i did it for a while years ago and definitely felt stronger, more supple, more balanced and more relaxed. i wish i'd kept up with it. i reckon you'd be fine going into a beginner's class as long as your fairly flexible - by which i mean able to touch your toes, touch your hands behind your back etc etc, not wrap your own legs around your head without screaming.

Get up! everybody's gonna move their feet
Get Down! everybody's gonna leave their seat
