If someone wants(or needs) to do something they will always find a way!
Tis the nature of addictions mate, thats why its an addiction. It becomes the number one priority, everything else takes a back seat and it takes over your life.
Being addicted to something that is socially acceptable (for example smoking) is Ok..yeah i know not as socially acceptable as it was but you know what I mean..its tolerated in society. It does no short term damage and I guess its a controlled addiction..it wont wreck your life or cost you your family and house. It may kill you but that is a chance you take..Its still an addiction though!
Destructive addictions like gambling/drug use alcoholism are more frowned upon as they can ruin a life in no time.People cant grasp it is an illness because the addicts personality changes..Its easy to say fuc'k him/her..all their own fault, look at the way they are behaving and draw a line under it because people dont understand!
Like any bodily problem there is a sign.Cut you bleed..Bang your head get a bump...Smack your finger with a hammer it behaves different,it becomes black and swollen.
An addict is the same..become addicted and you behave differently..its ones head "bleeding" like a cut thumb trying to say, something is not right..theres a difference though a cut and bleeding thumb is telling you theres a problem..the erratic behaviour of an addict is way past telling him/her there is a problem cause they have been there and ignored it...Its like someone with no arms with a gash on their leg needing a bandage, they need someones help!
To simplify, people should not judge what they do not understand!
