Right, it looks like the Tevez lovers can calm down a bit, i'll shut up about Aguero and Owzat, nice idea with the Et'o for 20 mill thread but it looks like we're getting up at 5am for the Next sale which starts next week! Post your jumble sale bargains on here now! Remember! No more than the £5-6 million mark, we're in a recession so no more Heinz! Strictly Tesco Value Beans from here on in...

We've already been linked to Distin for a couple of million and a few papers have us linked to Tuncay. Must admit I like both players and if we really are as skint as it seems they would make some sense to me. Remember that one of our best players this side of Christmas (Yossi) only cost £6 million. It looks like we're gonna need to see similar value from Rafa's buys this summer.

Post your bargain buys...

On a slightly more serious note, if I was looking at bringing in a "TK Max" player, I'd sign Mark Viduka. I WOULDN'T SIGN MARK VIDUKA THOUGH IF WE CAN AFFORD TO BUY SOMEBODY BETTER.

If we are skint though, I think he would provide good cover in that he could play where Torres plays albeit in a different way. Also, he would be an option off the bench to change our mode of attack. I think we'd get him for free, he would relish the opportunity and he wouldn't whinge about being on the bench. There, so at least now people can remind me in three years "but you said you wanted to sign Mark Viduka" :D .

Someone suggested Van Nistelrooy in a different thread.. good shout.. Tuncay is another one i'd look at... Owen for free surely tops the list though for forwards... Other forwards at a similar price... guess Trezeguet would be an option.. already said he wants to play in the prem. next season and wouldnt think Juve would want alot for him... Pavlyuchenko of Spurs wouldnt be a bad buy if they are wanting to sell him for a reasonable price...
Wingers and midfielders.. well cant think of many in the english game who could come in for cheap and have an impact in our side... i think Rosina from relegated Torino in Italy would be an excellent buy.. been linked to pretty much every big club in the world in the past few years so... Martin Petrov of Mancity is a player i've always liked.. dont really know how much he'd cost but with all the player City are trying to sign they might be willing to give him up for cheap.... BenArfa the Marseille kid is also a good player ,,, Hleb if Barca would sell would be an excellent buy...

Adam Johnson is in his last year, so should come for peanuts, Owen out of contract, Distan for £2million, Danny Murphy out of contract. Lucas Neill and Salif Diao are also free, and we are ready to rumble or should that be crumble  :D Selling Alonso would pay for their wages so we are good to go!

Viduka? Maybe in his hay day but he's well past it now.

I've read Miguel the rightback from Valencia is available for as little as 6m. If we sold Dossena and somehow offloaded Degen (picking up Miguel and Distin). I'd be pretty happy with our backline for next season.
Up front under 6m I don't think we can do any better than Tuncay and Owen. Offload Babel and Voronin and we'd probably make a decent profit from transfers this summer.

Man city with all it's purchases will probably have some bargains on the table in the latter stages of the transfer window. Jo, Sturidge along with Dunne (all as backups) might be worth a shout.

You know mate I was thinking the same thing, could fill in for Torres or SG and could partner Torres if we wanted to go 442.
But im not sure how old he is,must be getting on now but has always had that bit of class about him.
Dont think he`s a Rafa kinda player though.

If we are skint why not sell Babel and keep hold of voronin? Like viduka he can cover both possitions and its not like he`s a bad player IMO anyway.

How does Owen cop grief when Viduka's being suggested?

Viduka will be turning 34 in October and is comming of a lot of injuries the last 18 months.   Not only that he's scored 7 goals in 40 games for Newcastle. He's was an option 3-4 years ago but he's a tad long in the tooth now.

Viduka is past his best, that's why he'd be on a free transfer. I'm not saying he's a wonderful player or anything like it, I'm not saying either that if we have we have four or five million to spend we won't be able to find someone better. I'm simply making the point that if we were absolutely totally skint, I think he could do a job for us.

Equally, you could recall Voronin into the same role as I'm suggesting for Viduka, namely sitting on the bench and covering for Torres. This is in all honesty the more likely option, but I personally think Viduka is a better player.

Once more though, I don't think for one minute we WILL actually sign him, I don't even think FWIW that we SHOULD actually sign him unless we are desperate.

I am simply engaging in the age old Newkit closed season custom, namely talking utter b0ll0cks answering a purely hypothetical question which has no chance of actually coming to pass. I'll be doing the same thing once the "where will we play Kaka should we actually sign him" thread makes an appearance (I've already got him earmarked for a role alongside Gerrard where they BOTH play in the hole and kind of revolve around each other. I've cunningly named it "total hole").

A little later, when Welsh Wizard makes an appearance and starts talking about his Uncle Albert and the various players he has seen Rafa talking to while he's painting the gaffers drainpipes, we'll all pontificate on various Frenchmen, Brazillians and Scandinavians. The fact that I probably won't have heard of them won't stop me talking utter b0ll0cks with regards to their potential signings.

It's the close season and it happens. It's all b0ll0cks but it passes the time. Given all of that, I think we should Mark Viduka if we've only got 50p to spend.
