Eto'o for £20m? - If only £20m, get him before citeh

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Manchester City believe they are close to the £20m signing of Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o.

Source : BBC gossip/Daily Mail 4/6/2009

Surely we can't sit by and let them sign Eto'o for that little? I reckon Man Utd would sign him instead of Tevez and with his record/calibre we'd be foolish to sit back and do nothing, not even look into it.

And another aspect of it is do we really want a side outside the 'big four' signing a player that good?

I think if we bid then it would just start a bidding war with Man City and they would come out on top easily.

I just hope Benitez makes a bid for Silva very soon before Real beat us to it.

Not saying we wouldn't lose out in a bidding war, but to let them get him for a reasonable price is surely unthinkable?

We do have the edge of being in the Champions League and title contenders, they may have more money but not all footballers are motivated by that alone

I wouldn't want Etoo here. He is too big an ego to have in the squad. I can just imagine him giving an 'exclusive' interview about how he doesn't like to be rotated or played out of position.

as long as he is used right id take Eto'o any day the guy is class. Imagine him and Torres up front. We will walk the title
The devil on the badge represents the equality of manchester united with satan and his many demoish minions downstairs. just like the many twisted devil worshipers accross the world it means you have to posess the same sick minded mentality to follow that pathetic excuse for a football team.

He has just had a great season with barce scoring goals left right and centre so why would he leave barce ? more rehashing and lazy journos - must agree that are we going to start a thread on every single rumour or player that citeh will buy ?

Not every player but Etoo leaving Barcelona is a big possibility... Last year of his contract and i dont think Guardiola is ready to meet his wage demands this season either despite all he's done... 20mill or 25mill is still alot for a player in his last year of contract but Eto'o is a top class striker and it would be a shame if someone else gets him at such a price...

Etoo, Villa, Aguero, Torres, Ibrahimovic, Drogba... the best forwards in the world now and i dont think we can realistically expect any of the others to be realistic targets for our club but if Barcelona are willing to sell Etoo i think we should get in there with all the other clubs and try to bring him here... He's great at unlocking defenses even when he plays down the wings and i think he'd be perfect with Gerrard and Torres ... Not only does he score buckets of goals he also creates more than hes given credit for...

And didnt Ballague or whatever his name is comment on us possibly making a bid for him before the whole ManCity thing surfaced... just saying, if it came down to him, Silva or Teves... he'd be my pick of the bunch even if it meant forking out an extra 5mill or so...

Ibrahimovic best forward in the world ?? We have faced him 4 times and he did nothing - mancs faced him this year and he did nothing - That guy is the perfect example of a flt track bully - Scores nice goals against weaker opposition but put him against any strong teams and he does nothing .

mmm... okay... whatever... im not gonna get into this discussion again but fair to say, most people in the world think he's up there with the best.... many here dont rate him and if you've only watched very little of him i might understand why but anyways...that wasnt the point of the post..

oh gybs.. annoying and predictable as ever... Anyone who watches the Italian league would tell you he's the best striker in that league by a country mile... Sure he might have had a few bad games against Liverpool and Manutd in the champs league (im sure thats the only times you've seen him in the past few years but anyways) but that doesnt change the fact that hes a top striker playing for a top club in a top league.. His goalscoring record isnt too shabby either dont ya think?

Zlatan:

2008-2009
league : 25 goals in 35 appearances, 7 assists        Overall : 31 goals and 10 assists

2007-2008
league : 17 goals in 22 starts , 9 assists        Overall : 22 goals and 9 assists

2006-2007
league : 15 goals in 25 starts , 3 assists        Overall : 15 goals and 4 assists

--------------------------------------------

cant be that sh1tty scoring all those goals for his club now can he... or maybe u just havent seen enough of him.... ???

Yes and we have seen the fact most of the italian clubs are pretty damn sh.ite . Everyone that comes up against a decent team gets a good thumping . The italian league is the worst of the bunch at the moment . Put him up against a decent defender and he does nothing .
