i heard our dear gary mac is coming back to coach the kids in our full overhaul of coaching stuff.
it about time too, after gerrard we produced....let me see.... warnock? not to knock down a lfc lad but he ain't gerrard or carra calibre.
gary mac the old trickster, should have sign him when he's 25, the guy played till his 35, in the top flight as a midfielder, amazing. won nothing so far in his whole career before the treble. perfect ending.

Actually Juninho is only 34, we could conceivably get two or three seasons out of him. His goalscoring record in a fairly ordinary French league is only 75 goals in 250 league games - 44 of those free-kicks according to wikipedia - and only 7 goals in 44 appearances for Brazil. Could be a useful squad player, but the only real vacancy in the starting line-up is on the left.
He might come here as a bigger challenge, but I suspect there may be some interest from Spain and Italy. Here's an interesting article with some stats on Juninho

The statistics of a prolific career in French football say it all about a midfielder that arrived in France in June 2001 on a free transfer from Vasco de Gama, after he was spotted on a VHS video cassette by club legend Bernard Lacombe.
100 goals in 344 competitive matches. His penalty against Caen last Saturday, in his final match for the club, took his tally to a round 100 goals and places him fourth on the all-time club goalscoring charts behind the legendary Fleury Di Nallo, Bernard Lacombe and Serge Chiesa.
Juninho scored 75 goals in Ligue 1, 18 in the Champions League and seven in the French Cup. 64 of his 100 goals came at the Stade Gerland, 36 away. He scored 91 with his right foot, five with the left foot and four headers.
The Free-Kicks. The Brazilian No.8 scored 44 direct free-kicks. 29 at the Stade Gerland and 15 away. He netted 28 in Ligue 1, ten in the Champions League and three in the French Cup.
The Penalties. 'Juni' netted 14 penalties. 11 at the Stade Gerland and three away. 11 in Ligue 1 and three in the Champions League.
The Assists. Juninho also provided 117 assists in his time at Lyon. In his 344 competitive matches for OL, Lyon scored 534 goals. Juninho scored 100 and provided 117 assists, meaning he was directly involved in 217 of OL's 534 goals, or nearly 41 per cent!
First match for Lyon? A 2-0 loss away to Lens in Ligue 1, July 28, 2001.
First goal for Lyon? The 61st-minute winner in the 2-1 win away to Bastia in Ligue 1, August 12, 2001.
First goal at the Stade Gerland? A double (including a penalty) in the 4-2 home win over Rennes in Ligue 1, September 29, 2001.
First Champions League goal? A winning penalty against Anderlecht (1-0) on September 17, 2003.

Not a lot of headed goals or scored with his left foot. Quite impressive number of assists, although in the French league and if he takes corners and all set-pieces then he is in with a shout of putting in a lot of assists. Worth considering, I'm not that big a fan of signing players over 30, but if they have something to offer that we don't have, and the price is right, then a two or three year contract wouldn't do any harm. Might be a decent bosman signing by Rafa for a change, so I doubt we'll go for him!
