Juninho - Juninho

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I suffered Juninho Pernambucano in the Champions League here in my town.

There is a feeling that I name the free kick terror.

It's a feeling that you feel as a supporter, in which you notice how your balls get smaller, and all the blood goes to the feet. That kind of terror is generated by players like Ronaldinho at best, they're in the crown of the box, and you know they'll score. And they score.

Juninho was one of those players. Not sure how he'd adapt to English football, but he's a great, great footballer. Worth to download an Olympique Lyonnaise game just for the sake of enjoying some technical details of this lad.

I love the ones where the teammate runs over it before this bloke crqacks it in from about 40 yards. I bet that had em all fooled that little manoevre :D They've got a free kick in shooting distance, wonder who's going to take it  ??? We really need a Fagin "reviewing the situation" smiley where the fella rubs his chin and frowns.

Good free kicks though, fair play to him. I would say there was some fairly average goalkeeping, but the most impressive thing is he kind of bends it in all directions so to speak. I wouldn't have gone with "Go West" as the theme tune myself, "what have I done to deserve this" was always a personal favourite and would have fitted better. As the ball swerves beyond the despairing lunge of the befuddled goalkeeper Dusty Springfield floods in with "Since you went away".

On a much more serious note, the bloke needs a haircut.
"se e in una bottigla ed e bianco, e latte".

Perhaps if the EPL introduced rotating substitutes, we could bring him in just for the free-kicks !

If and only if .....  :p

the guy is the best free kick taker around at the moment but the rest of his game has gone downhill due to his age . In france he always had time to play and the pace of the game suited him . As someone else has said he is prob suited to italy where he will still get space and time to pull strings but in the fast paced prem ? Not in a million years and even more so the fact he has never played in a league with such high pace .

I'd give it to the chirpy cockney, the tousle haired artful dodger himself, Jimmy Bullard. Very rarely fails to hit the target.

No way.

Surely Gerrard.  No one is better at the ones right on the edge of the box where someone rolls it and he smacks it.  He's scored a few other belters from further out too.

He'd need to be on the pitch to score 'em though and at his age, I can't see him getting a game.  Unless Rafa told him to be stripped and ready to sub on at a moment's notice if we won a free kick in a dangerous area at a crucial time. :D

i dont know about juninho. but i like an old head around.
if i remember correctly, one of GH best signing is Gary Mac at 35 yrs old. help us with the treble, its his free kick that caused the own goal in uefa cup ET, then the audacious 40 yards free kick at everton that got us into champions league.

Wouldn't mind him as backup. To be fair I think most were saying no no when Gary Mac first came but Juninho is proven.

No thats true but he is proven in Europe so there is a good chance he would be able to adapt. Not trying to compare him to Litamanen but im sure similar questions might have been asked then too.
