I was shocked he didn't celebrate. When he left I thought he felt, like many supporters did, that he was not given a fair crack of the whip here. However the fact he scored and did not celebrate showed what a brilliant lad he is. How come he never ever got into that much space for us behind the opponents back line?

Anyway, credit to him. He showed some respect by not celebrating.

Funny......

I wonder how many more goals he would have scored for us if he was actually left on the pitch for a full game.

It wasnt going to happen mate, it wasnt meant to be.

I supported keane from the moment he arrived until he left but even I have to admit that despite the goodwill and encouragement of everyone he simply wasnt going to click. I think it was more in his head than to do with his skill level.

Oh he would have scored all-right.

But far too late and while we were losing, just like he did for Spurs on Sunday ! We needed him to score early, to get us going and he just couldn't get his mind around to doing that. Funny that we didn't really need another striker especially since Benny and Kuyt started banging them in.

He's hardly scored any goals for Spurs since he returned.

As others above mentioned, it was (and still is) all in his head. Doesn't have too many years left in him to sort it out but there is a mental block in there somewhere.

Um, yeh, but when he was hauled off, we weren't losing. We were simply drawing.

So, a late goal like Keane's (77 min) on Sunday would have meant a win.

...and just TWO of those draws converted to wins would mean that Liverpool would have won the league this year.

Of course, he was usually taken off the pitch long before the 77 minute.

Keane's treatment this year certainly leaves a bad taste in the mouth (no matter how you feel about him), but to think what might have happened if Benitez had just let him finish out a game or two, will make that bad taste linger a lot longer.

Keane was sold as Gerrard played in his position... only 10000 times better than keane would have done. so we had to recoup what we did. Rafa had no idea the torres-gerrard partnership would flourigh so well... so we did the right thing

nice one not celebrating tho

Jesus F Christ Tonyeh, you still on about Keane being subbed and when?!?!? He played 77+ mins ELEVEN times out of 28 appearances, 70+ in 16 and 66+ mins in 20 of his 20 appearances. Given his scoring record that was pretty good.

Even if it was a draw, do you think Rafa shouldn't have changed things?!?!?!? Keane might have scored had he stayed on, but if he couldn't score in 66 mins then the odds aren't favouring him scoring in the last 24 mins. Ye protesteth too much over this whole Keane/sub saga, Keane played 10 games of 80+ mins and scored in only two of them after eight previous instances of not doing so. I didn't care much for the way Rafa used Keane, but Keane didn't help himself with his attitude.

Did you see his two pretty poor misses from the previous week? Some games he could have played 360 mins and not scored, the manager has to decide what to do and who to take off. By not scoring in his first 10 appearances Keane had made himself a likely candidate to be taken off

Yes, I do "protest" over it. It was a disgrace how he was handled when he was at the club. An absolute disgrace.

Also, "...if he couldn't score in 66 mins then the odds aren't favouring him scoring in the last 24 mins" is a stupid thing to say. A goal can come at any point in the game., as it did on Sunday. You have to be on the pitch to score though.

He certainly wouldn't score sitting on the bench, that's for sure.

I'm not saying Keane would have lit up the field every second half, nothing like that. But the chance was there to score, if he had been left on.

He had nothing from his team the entire match on Sunday and never looked like scoring, but still knocked one in.

He would have just needed to do that twice in the 6 Months here was at Liverpool.

Just twice...

if anyone should "protest" it should be Yossi (actually he was protesting in the 1st half of the season  :D ) - and justifiably too - he didn';t get a run of games at all til after xmas , then he gets a regular run and scores 10 goals!

If anything i'd say it was the lack of games for Benny2 and too much of keane on the pitch that cost us points  ???
