As for Real Maryland, according to wiki, their excuse for the name is "The team's nickname, the Monarchs or "Los Monarcas", is intended to reflect the state of Maryland’s colonial roots under Lords Calvert and Baltimore." But those people weren't so royal themselves, and certainly were not of Spanish decent, but they were Catholic.

They do seem to be embracing the name though:

In Oslo Norway my nearest teams are Lyn and Vålerenga, who share a stadium, although I actually support Molde. They are are all in Eliteserien which is kind of an odd league, I would say the standard ranges from 2nd division to almost championship standard, mostly it's absolute :censored:

though compared to a good premiership game, but then most things are except maybe a top notch La Liga game.
