He should have told the media all congratulations to be made would be, or were, made in person and he doesn't see the media as the appropriate medium to convey such messages. What he has done is given them the opportunity to portray him in a bad light, when in fact why the feck should he join in the media hype circus over the mancs.
While the mancs were waiting twenty whatever years for their next league title, were they going out of their way to congratulate us on quashing the previous record? There was an interesting piece on the telly the other day, charting the fortunes of us in the 70s and 80s while tracking fergie's progress. I switched over when it got close to the part where they were bound to cum in their pants over the Premiership years. He got it right at the right time and the club has reaped the rewards of timing it to coincide with the everincreasing amounts of money. I give fergie all due credit for his first few titles, but then he became a one-trick pony (league or double) and only got a European Cup through luck. Now he has an established £multi-million side with a £multi-million back up XI, is it any wonder he is managing to win trophies so easily?
And while fergie did well in winning his first few league titles, he had a lot of luck as well. He bought the best player in the league off the reigning CHAMPIONS for a mere £1.2m (Cantona) That would be like us buying Ronaldo off the mancs for £20m, the first million pound footballer had long since been done so that price was laughable. Leeds handed over their best player and with it their chance to do what the mancs have done. The other main bit of luck, besides finding Schmeichel which wasn't so much luck, was getting Keane for just £3.75m. That was a lot of money in those days, but again would you find a big club selling a key player for a reasonable amount these days? And fergie was one of the bigger spenders of the time. The popular myth is Blackburn 'bought' the title, well here's a bit of eye opening information
Man Utd 94/95
Schmeichel £500k
Parker £2m
Bruce £800k
Pallister £2.3m
Irwin £625k
Kanchelskis £5m
Ince £1m
Keane £3.75m
Sharpe £185k
Cole £6.25m
Hughes £1.5m
Total : £28.425m
Blackburn 94/95
Flowers £2.4m
Kenna £1.5m
Warhurst £2.65m
Hendry £700k
Le Saux £1.5m
Ripley £1.3m
Sherwood £500k
Batty £2.75m
Gallacher £1.5m
Shearer £3.3m
Sutton £5m
TOTAL £23.1m
Our most expensive XI came to about £23.725m, Arsenal £17.707m, Leeds £13.85m, Newcastle £17.8m, Tottenham £12.08m and Chelsea £11.182m. Funny how quickly manc fans talk about others "buying the league", they have been one of the biggest, if not THE biggest spenders since the inception of the Premiership. All figures are based on the same principle, most expensive player available in an appropriate position. That's eight of the teams in the Premiership, I'd be surprised if there was a bigger spender among the rest.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer
