Lucas was sound  today , even he puts Babel to shame, Im really dissapointed you know because when we signed him i thought oh yes, wenger was desperate to get his hands on him , ive give him a go but not any more ,

With reagrds to Babel..........I bet Wenger's not as desperate as he was !  :D

I went the game today and we didn't play particularly well tbh but did enough against a huffy puffy WBA who have failed to blow lesser houses down this season.

They play decent football and their fans are a credit to them and always have been but they can't defend or finish which kind of leaves you with a problem or two !

Kuyt, Agger, Masca, Benni and the aforementioned Lucas all played well today and it proved enough to win the game.

Lucas was ok today. However not trying to sound like a party pooper but I think he has had only 2 good games this season, against Newcastle and WBA today, possibly the 2 worst sides in the league.

Ok maybe just 2 games is a bit harsh. He hasn't improved massivly in the time he has been here but I think Rafa will keep him anyway. I don't think I can say the same for Babel.

Point well made and taken.

He bore the brunt for a lot of our mistakes in January and I suppose now that we are winning again fans are seeking to redress the balance a little.

He did play well today but 2 games don't make a season and at times earlier in the season he has been woeful.

For all the talk about his attacking, passing, shooting etc..... it's the fact he can't tackle very well for a Midfielder that perturbs me. He's good at intercepting and reading the game at times but hopeless when needing to tackle........

that makes two of us, joe (and very possibly the only two). his little jinking run that so nearly ended in a goal was almost like one of those youtube clips of him where he looks a good player. its a shame the keeper got his fingers to it but it was a nice little move from him.

I agree, played pretty well and I disagree he's only had "two good games" this season (bav/dalglish) He may not have been the best player on the pitch more than a couple of times, but he's not really the type of player who will catch the eye in that way or win many MOTMs.

It was a pretty good game considering the season is all but over for us, maintaining our 100% record against WBA in the Premiership and not conceding a goal. BUT they should have scored, were better than us until their defender made an error for Gerrard to tuck away 1 on 1. That took the edge off their game, but defensively we were not clever and neither was that handbags match between Carra and Arbeloa. I can understand why Carra was frustrated, perhaps it lies a lot deeper than just that one incident, and I suspect Arbeloa said something. Lucky Arbeloa's dad was there (Xabi)

And what an excellent run and finish from Kuyt, shame it wasn't the last goal and game of 08/09. I thought he had a good game. Reina had a good game too, kept us in it on a few occaisions, especially early on. Shocking miss from Babel at the end, all the goal to aim at and he misses. Even hitting it at the keeper wouldn't have been as bad, denied us a Premiership record of games scoring 3+ goals. For a team down the bottom we didn't do a great job of beating them, a manclike performance of looking poor for periods but doing the business and getting away with a clean sheet and win. In truth the baggies perhaps deserved a point, the penalty and hit post late on added to them being one of the harder wins we've had this season.

In all honesty, did the baggies play better than the mancs did against us at old twatford?

Was at the game yesterday. I'd just like to say a big well done to the West Brom fans. Brilliant fans and I hope they come straight back up.

Performance wasn't great but we could still have won by more, even though the defence was a bit shaky at times.
