In summation - For next season

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Just a question for those saying they'll be happy if we continue playing the 'same' football going into next season:

Do you accept that we won't be able to set off with the same tempo as we have in many games recently? Fitness levels will be much lower at the start of the season and even when we get into our stride, we'll be knackered before long if the tempo is too high.

the simple answer is to fill the squad with top quality players to take the load off your star performers, so that the rotation policy that is essential in keeping performances up in multiple competitions over the course of a season doesn't bring a big drop in the quality of the high tempo performances of the  starting 11  :D

This Season has been a strange one ,and while I am sure, I am not alone in wanting to eradicate the heart stopping games that introduced a form of kamikaze defending not seen since the days of Babb and co ,I strongly believe (hope) that the likes of the Arsenal home game and Chelsea away will not raise their ugly heads again ,whilst being spectacular to watch ,it has no place in the logistics of Liverpool's play for the future .
I ardently feel that Liverpool's form this Season has been exceptional ,especially the latter part of the season (albeit for the sporadic annomilie ),as for the infamous draws that have been the subject of much conjecture ,sometimes opponents base their entire Season on one game plan ,with the emphasis firmly being on defending for their proverbial lives ,and just sometimes are more accomplished in that  aspect of the game ,then there is luck ! whilst  it follows the Mancs around with subsequent glee ,it can be for Liverpool an unforgiving mistress ,to say the woodwork saved some of them less illustrious names that visited Anfield and deprived us of points ,would be a serious understatement .
I think next season there will be no place for Lethargy ,no room for complacency ,no quarter will be given ,no place or home for nearly men ,or the obligatory valiant losers ,no half hearted tackles ,no sporadic injections of heart its all or nothing   ,no more finishing second .
I expect Rafa to oust all of the above .
So finally in summation ,I would like to offer the following points for next season ...........................
1. The realization that Benitez is the best manager to take us forward and to build an eventual dynasty ,the likes not seen since Shanks n Paisley .
2. The atmosphere at Anfield :Has at times this season been a disgrace ,and a source of much amusement to opposing fans .
3. Whenever you have a quiet moment with your thoughts ,away from the hysteria and conjecture the Media drags up  ,remind yourself how lucky you are to support this glorious team ,whether you be from Liverpool or Timbuctoo
4. Leave the hate and condemnation of your team to the Mancs or the equally abhorrent Chelsea fans ,enough people truly despise us without us slating ourselves ,let the plasticity of the modern fan not fester in your words ,leave the bile to the Media .
5. Finally and most importantly lets believe people "Lets Believe" .... how many managers have left Ferguson a quivering wreck ,he knows we are coming and there is little or nothing he can do to stunt the resurgent Liverpool's evolution into something seriously resembling the majesty of our illustrious past .......
So what would your 5 pts be ,what priceless pearls of wisdom would you put forward for next season lets call them Rules to live by ......

Brilliant post.  I too am convinced that Ferguson fears his worst nightmare.  Arsenal and Chelsea while rivals are not us and I hope is legacy is retiring when our resurgence knocks them off their perch

Top post that red . Agree 100% (oooo it's a happy clappy lovefest) All that i'd add to it ,is i friggen hope our support sorts itself out next season . If your coming the match , get behind the lads from start to finish and leave the critisism for the ale 'ouse. Feck the clowning around and the photo oppotuninties . Stop giving dirty looks to people who stand and sing . Don't leave before the end of the final whistle and finally sing your feckin heart out .

Just watch Taff, Taggart will do his best in the close season to deprive Liverpool of every transfer target ,I think I am right in saying that after we won the European cup Benitez said he received a rather bizarre letter from Ferguson stating how he thought Liverpool won it ,if that's not slightly obsessive, then I am at a loss to explain how the word can be described.

Sadly it seems our method of winning The Champions League is now the Mancs blueprint to success ,but next season Ferguson's greatest fear will come to fruition ,and not only will Benitez become Ferguson's biggest nemesis ,he will be the man who eventually kicks Utd off their pedestal .
