And more, much more than this,
we did it Rafa’s  way.

and thats been the problem , yet again he has left us fans thinking he dont have a clue what he is doing.....but them in other games he gets is so spot on we make the other teams look silly.

Isn't it too early to be bladdered ? (Sinatra )

Any change over will bring dodgy areas. Besides, I'd happilly take 4-4 draws against the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal over 0-0 draws to sides we should be beating any day of the week.

Simply put though, if Benitez had allowed the team to be more attacking earlier in the season, rather than his conservative "dont lose" approach, we'd probably have won the Premiership at this stage.

would we ? maybe we might of lost those draws and be even further behind - its not at is rafa said dont win only draw is it ? a 4-4 draw is no different to a 0-0 draw - still only one point . and loosing 4 goals is never good for confidence for the defending players

Sorry Fowler, but "belief" is usually demolished by the balance of probability and that says that Utd have the title in their hands.

All the belief in the world ain't going to change that.

Neither are mickey mouse draws to oposition you expect a win from.

And a 4-4 draw is VERY different to a 0-0 borefest.

I have no doubt in my mind that had we gone after the likes of Stoke and Wigan the way we went after Utd and Real and even Chelsea and Arsenal, we'd have won those games.

Slight difference is both Man Utd and Madrid didnt park 11 players in front of the ball and denied us space - both man utd and madrid allowed us space to exploit . WE did try to win against the other teams just couldnt break down 11 men .

Who gives a fuck who parked what. They're just bullshit platitudes and feeble excuses.

Stoke "park the bus" every game and yet are still beaten by teams Liverpool claim to be better than.

The simple fact, we just weren't good enough to finish them off. Our attacks were weak and obvious and we were easy to defend against.

Our play has very much changed over the past few weeks to a more attacking style that we should have been playing much earlier in the season.

and in that attacking style we have leaked goals left right and centre - we attacked spurs all game long yet still lost the game ? how does that work ? stoke have parked the bus and beaten many teams - same with hull and wigan and fulham etc with scalps like arsenal and man utd and chelsea to their name . its all well and good saying lets do this that and the other but you have to be in the situation to do it - a lot of our great attacking play has come from quick fast breaks against exposed defences and quick balls from pepe - how the feck can you do that when your faced with a team that just sits and defends and denies you space ?!?

Look GAYS, or whatever you're called. I'm really not in the mood for your mindless contradiction.

Whatever, have the last word...that's all you're really concerned about anyway.

bigmick wrote:As for the thing about it being our "last" chance, at least we agree on something as that's a ridiculous notion. If anybody said it was our "last" chance of winning the Premiership then obviously they are an idiot. It was though clearly our "best" chance of many years, as we actually put in a sustained challenge (and indeed still are doing). Much of the fact that it has been our "best' chance for years is and has been been down to our excellence, both of the team and of the manager. Some of the fact that it has been our "best" chance for many a year though is obviously because Arsenal aren't as good as they historically have been, and neither are Chelsea. We can dispute the point until we're blue in the face (or at least you can if you like) but it remains as close to a fact as you can get I should think. Unless of course you truly do think that Arsenal are as good a team as they were last season, or that Chelsea wouldn't have been stronger had Hiddink been there all year. Anyways thats for you to wrestle with as you try and make the various threads of your argument hang together, for my part I'm simply glad we've improved.

Sack Rafa !

We have done well cus Arsenal and Chelsea have been poor ?

Get a grip will yer - we only played them both twice so that is hardly the reason we have done well.

What a strange post. Sack Rafa? Hmmm good one.

I don't know why it is that certain subjects seem to rile people up, but they do. So Arsenal are as strong this season as last when they very nearly won it, and Chelsea wouldn't have been stronger if Hiddink had been there all season? And it's me who needs to get a grip.

On a more serious note, I hope that next season Arsenal and Chelsea are just as good in the league as they have been this time around. My suspicion though is that neither club will be quite as inneffective. Like all things though, the fullness of time will prove or disprove all theories so it'll be interesting to see which way it goes.

Back to the "sack Rafa" bit, I suppose this part of my post which you quoted "Much of the fact that it has been our "best' chance for years is and has been been down to our excellence, both of the team and of the manager" must have been in invisible ink or something. Someone definately needs to get a grip, you're right there.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the jist of your post is that we are only where we are because Arsenal and Chelsea have been poor this season.

I'm happy to correct you because you are 100% wrong. The jist iof my post is that we had a fantastic opportunity this season, and that it may be much harder next season.

OUR IMPROVEMENT IS NOTHING TO DO WITH ARSENAL AND CHELKSEA'S DEMISE, WE HAVE IMPROVED INDEPENDENTLY, IN OUR OWN RIGHT.

Now when next season comes around and suddenly we are involved a four way dogfight which we may not be able to come out near the top of, and everyone bleats on about about the "massive strides" which Arsenal and Chelsea have made, and how they are "a completely different pair of teams" to last season, please don't be surprised when I remind some people of their inability to accept the glaringly obvious.

I say it once again. Arsenal this season are not a patch on what they were last season. As such, there is around an even money chance that they will significantly improve next season.

Chelsea under Hiddink have been an entirely different proposition to what they were under Scholari. Now if Hiddink leaves (which hopefully he does) there is an even money chance that under a new manager they will comtinue to play as they are, or lapse into "Scholariesque" shortcomings. They may get another manager who comes in and thinks Deco is the answer in English football, but on the other hand they may not.

My point is that if those teams improve, it will make it harder for us. Not impossible, but harder.

I cannot for the life of me see what all the controversy is about but there you go.
