And now for something completely similar - Most disapointing player of the season

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Keane is undoubtedly the biggest disappointment overall. He came with good Premiership pedigree and not once did he show it in a red shirt.

Of the players still at the club then Ryan Babel wins this vote hands down. Last season he showed glimpses of being possibly one of the most promising attacking talents in Europe, yet this season to me he's starting to look more and more like Stan Collymore. For me he'll do well not to let the door hit him on the arse on his way out of the club come the summer.

well he did sign them, and never really used them so like i said SOME blame has to be attached to him.

Babel's time is up as he clearly dosnt have enough about him to be a top player, he lacks brains, desire and killer instinct, but i have a nagging suspicion there is a good player in the somewhere, but im 99% sure we wont see it at Liverpool FC.

Robbie Keane is a good player who IMO should still be at the club, but was moved on for very dubious reasons IMO.

babel i agree with, but the treatment of Robbie Keane was a disgrace, he hardly even get a chance to show if he was any good or not. He was in the team at the start of the season and struggled, but as soon as he got a goal he was chopped and changed every week, even when Torres was injured. Thankfully we havnt missed him much, since he left but i still beleive he could of been a good player for us.

18 games i think he played for us and it took him how long to get on the scoresheet ? 11 games was it ? maybe more and even in there he missed sitters - played too flashy sometimes and didnt create much - for 20 mil pound you expect a hell of a lot more than what keane offers you - now if he arrived for his true value ie around 7 - 10 mil then as a back up he could of been useful .

So if we played less for him he would have been useful? how does make any sense. Rafa saw enough in him to pay a huge fee for him, yet when he arrived basically :censored:.e.d. him off after 6 months. The whole mess was pointless, and Rafe should of spent the money on a player he has a role for. Lets hope this season transfers arent the disaster that last summer was.

paying less would of meant him being having to settle more for a back up role as opposed to the starting role he himself thought he should of had - he also seemed to of affected morale . he didnt bring anything to the club and it seems the club is better off without him

Was going to say Lucas, but your right Greavsie. He's always been awful, so where's the disapointment?

So, in that case, I reckon it has to be Babel.

Although his bad handling has had a definite impact on how disapointing he's been.

Why do people keep bringing up Keane's price tag? It's an extremely poor argument.

It's not as if the lad stuck it on himself.

I'd say he would have been happier to move for a fraction of the cost, if he had the choice.

well when you pay 20 mil for a player you expect performances worthy and expect the player to show he is worth the money the club have had to pay to get him .

So what?

Bringing up Robbie Keane's pricetag, as if the lad was asking for that himself is a stupid non-point.

Spurs asked for the price, not Keane (who was probably bowled over by it as much as I was) and Benitez agreed...end of.

The pricetag has nothing to do with his time at the club.

So what do you expect when you pay 20 million pound for a player ? for him to be okish - spend months trying to score his first goal and spending most games as a passenger ? sulk like a baby when he wasnt picked or brought of as a sub and seem to effect the morale of the club and have a high opinion of himself and then when he goes to spurs claims that he is "back home " .

For 20 million i expect a player to score goals and a decent consitent basis - or at least provide high quality atttacking ability and fit smoothly into the club and the prem especially as the player had been playing in the prem for a number of years ? did keane do any of that ?
