You could also argue that improvement doesn't have to relate to entirely to 1st team appearances, that a player can improve without playing any 1st team games. But to make it relevant to the Premiership you have to assume they have made some appearances. So Insua may have improved as a player, not necessarily that he has to have shown it in the 1st team.

In the absense of Gerrard over the past few games he has been the link between midfield and the strikers. Him and Kuyt have really taken up the responsibility of Gerrard being missing.

I give Yossi his dues...I wrote him off earlier in the season but he has really come onto a game of late.

Absolutely the most improved player for us this term!

The issue he now has is with Stevie G back where does he play...?

Kuyt has made RM his own and we've seen already that Yossi coming in from the left isn't as effective as Riera with his left peg. He is a player who needs that free role so unless Stevie drops back in and we play Yossi in front of him he may find himself warming the bench again soon. Which is a shame.

Still....if he is unhappy at that and wants to leave then his price will have gone up on the back of recent performances :)

Stevie will go right back in where he was before, in that advanced role just behind Torres. Kuyt will stay at RM. If Yossi is to stay in the team I would imagine it would be Riera who would make way for him and not Kuyt.

Going on form, that's exactly how it should work out.  Riera can come on later if we need more width or a different approach to proceedings.

With Gerrard coming back it will be hard to find him place in the starting 11. He is not half as good on the left as in the center, or on the right side. I would keep Riera on the left, and - if needed - put Yossi from the bench on the right instead of Kuyt  while pairing the later with Torres.

I think Yossi has earned a starting place, at least for the next few games anyway.

POSTED THIS IN THE WRONG THREAD SORRY GUYS.

Well hopefully against newcastle it shouldn't make an awful lot of difference. If Leon is still around perhaps someone could give him a shout and we could stick him in goal for his fourth appearance of the season here. I know he played against Stoke and we failed to win there, but as it was 0-0 you could hardly blame the goalie.

If Gerrard isn't 100% I probably wouldn't even bother playing him from the start in this one. By all accounts they're going to play 4-5-1 with Viduka on his own up front as Shearer continues with his experimentation and realisation that it isn't as easy as it looks when you haven't got Alan Hansen to talk sense sitting next to you. He would of course been far better off meeting the players on day one, pinning a team to the wall with all his best players in it and saying this is what we are going with for the rest of the season unless someone in the team plays sh!t, or someone out of it uproots trees in training or when coming on as a sub. It should have been 4-4-2 with one of his forwards asked to drop in when they haven't got the ball. It's much the simplest way to play, you can set up compact and unless you're playing against the very best you'll hold your own. Instead of that of course like many before him he's tried to be too clever, and Newcastle will go down as a result.

As for this match, in our current mode I can't see anything other than a comfortable win. Just about the only thing which could stop us is if Man Utd win at Middlesboro (which they probably will lets face it) and we get a little over desperate. I don't think that'll happen though, and I take us to romp home and improve the goal difference to the point that we know that if we finish level on points with the Mancs, you can just about take it as read that we'll be Champions.

Wellmate I dont know if you seen it but on a similar point I had this to say.

I think we would have a more attacking side if we played SG alongside Alonso and yossi behind Torres, gives us another match winner.
With the games we have left I`d probably go with that, considering we have to win them all to have any kind of chance.
I honestly believe if there were 10 games left we`d win it, maybe we should have played benny more during our goal drout and run of draws

I know quoting your self isnt cool but its late and I couldnt be bothered rewording it. :D

Only thing he lacks is the killer past, which players like robinho and kaka has plenty. Also he's not very pacey. Anyway I remember one game when were struggling to break down a team, he came on and did this move like a basketball player, he ran straight at the defender, did a spinning move, lost the marker and scored... that was an amazing individual effort...

When you say past do you mean pass or like past as in history? If you meant pass, I beg to differ

so what... you think he can pass as well as robinho and kaka?
