The mancs have a worrying number of good young players, but that aside you haven't put anything to dispute the claim that Rafa's track record is poor.

Man Utd's future

17 Macheda - scored two goals in his first two senior apps
17 Ljajic
18 Rafael - looked useful when played
18 Fabio - looked useful when played
18 Welbeck - around the 1st team squad
20 Possebon
21 Evans - capable fill-in CB for Vidic/Ferdinand
21 Campbell - loaned to Tottenham
21 Anderson - fairly regular 1st teamer
22 Tosic
22 Nani - fairly regular 1st teamer

Rooney is only 23, Ronaldo 24. Compare that to our younger players

I wasn't talking about Rafa but as you brought it up, I would say the jurys out on his youth policy but people like Nemeth & Pacheco are still very young and opportunities are few having said that aren't we in the final of the youth cup.

IMHO I still believe their squad is not as indepth as everyone says.

Man Utd's future

17 Macheda - scored two goals in his first two senior apps -     So,  1 was good, the other lucky. Doesn't make a great striker.
17 Ljajic
18 Rafael - looked useful when played -    OK, nothing exiting
18 Fabio - looked useful when played -    Agree
18 Welbeck - around the 1st team squad,     So is Lucas
20 Possebon
21 Evans - capable fill-in CB for Vidic/Ferdinand,     capable but a weak link
21 Campbell - loaned to Tottenham,      says it all
21 Anderson - fairly regular 1st teamer,     dont rate him
22 Tosic
22 Nani - fairly regular 1st teamer,      dont rate him

Rooney is only 23, Ronaldo 24. Compare that to our younger players.     Rooney is an exception, still reckon Ronaldo wil go

would be interesting to see the numbers that we/they are paying as a comparison

for example those 2 they bought in january (tosic, ljajic?) cost 17m between them

how much was nani? 16m?

to me, those kind of numbers make the comparisons between our reserves and theirs pretty moot. We can't afford to spend even a fracton of that on youngsters

Apart from Aurelio I totally agree with you Lakes. A lot of people seem to like Arbeloa I don't get that one at all... very average in my opinion. Babel would be a bit of a wrench but he just doesn't perform when given the chance so I would do the honourable thing and give the lad an opportunity at another club.

Whether he's average or not is kind of beside the point (I disagree, BTW...he's no world beater but he's a good player, IMO).  The point is, we have no depth at all in the RB decision, since Degen makes Kewell look like Mr. Invincible.  Even if we want better in that position, selling Arbeloa is madness.  We'd still need him as back-up no matter who we brought in.

A lot of rumors this weekend.

Rafa will sell Alonso to finance Barry.

Also today in the NOTW we could go for Downing and sell Riera. ???
