sometimes mate words can do a lot more damage than actions - its quite shocking how powerful words can be sometimes .

The mods on any forum will always have a thankless task and no matter what they do someone will always complain ( yes i have complained before ) and they will always do what they think is best for the forum and we have to respect that .

And meanwhile while we are banning Liverpool fans who don't toe the party line, in the football part of the forum as of now there are a couple of fairly obviously non-Liverpool supporters posting right now. World's gone mad.

Nobody was banned for not towing the party line

Have a box full of PM's that indicate why certain individuals will stayed banned

As I said earlier in the discussions, I'm not saying they were banned for not towing the party line. What I am saying is that whenever there is a set to on the forum, as there was here, it appears that only a certain section of the people who involved in an argument suffer any consequences. Those who have a history of not towing the party line are in some peoples oipinion (and mine) much more likely to incurr the wrath of moderators than those that do.

There can't have been many more perfect examples of the phenomenon than on that particular thread.

As for Heimdall and Legs', I think they have both taken a lot of "stick" and while I like and respect Ciggy, Nanny and Barry, IF Heimdall and Legs were to be banned , then so should Ciggy and Barry (possibly Nanny too?) because they were giving it out just as much if not more than Heimdall and Leg's.

As for PM's they are supposed to be private and shouldn't be posted, but if people are ashamed of what they put in them, then maybe they shouldn't have put them in a PM either. As far as I am aware however there is nothing to stop someone posting their OWN PM's or posting one on behalf of someone when a PM has been called into question?

As for biased moderation, we ALL KNOW IT GOES ON. When I was asked I turned it down BECAUSE I knew that I couldn't be impartial and unbiased, and that if it ever came to a point where I should be banning a mate ....... I WOULDN'T. Maybe some other people should have asked themselves the same question.

The mod's do a very difficult job well, but at times they get it wrong, and maybe they should be a little more willing to accept the fact and learn from their mistakes.

BTW I thought it was a penalty...... just! but I also thought that Masch was kicked and it was a free kick. If we don't win the league it won't be because the mancs got a penalty, it will be because WE threw away points earlier in the season.

Here is the fundamental flaw in that statement, mate. You guys only have the bare outlines of what they, or any banned member, actually did to deserve a ban. Suffice to say, we go on much more than just what bubbles up in the thread itself.
That's why these "why was member X banned?" threads are beyond tedious. You get all kinds of people weighing in with their theories and gripes about the ban but it's all based on a fraction of the information.

Now, I won't share all the details because, frankly, this isn't a public inquiry that needs a full airing of every sordid element that leads to a mod's decision. To give you an instance of what I mean, though, take Supplemonkey--one of the four poor souls who got banned the other day. It was just an innocuous comment that went against the grain right? Not really. His banning probably had a lot more to do with the fact that he was almost certainly an alter ego of an already banned member who sent Red another despicable PM about something very private and personal.

Clearly, the level of trust around here has diminished to the point that every move we make is questioned. That's unfortunate but it's the reality. It doesn't change the fact, though, that we're still committed to doing our jobs in a fair and balanced way. Just because we don't come out and provide all of the evidence that supports our decisions doesn't mean that we're acting capriciously.

He was one of the 4 that was 'deleted' He even goes so far as to admit it himself. The fine figure of a character that he is.

btw his 'facts' are not entirely accurate - then again, where's the surprise in that.

As for you dawson - yep theyre just words on an internet. But words that are said to me, the father of 3 smashing kids - one of whom is terminally ill.

Just words though...no real harm done eh.
