Go for broke, buy both the Spaniards and trust in us scorin more than every opponent we have!! :D  Football for the cardiac challenged!!

Valencia need to make as much as they can so will create a bidding war for Villa and Silva. That rules us out.

The fact Valencia need the money means we may jus be able to get 1 of them, and jus 1 wud improve ANY side imo.

If they need the money then surley that means they will want to sell to the highest bidder.

I'd much rather have Tevez than Silva and Villa, far better player plus proven at the very highest level in the prem. Don't understand why we need to sell someone though, Tevez is a striker isn't he? At the moment we only have one of those so we absolutely have to get one more.

Dont know if its been mentioned, but i dont like the idea of this due to the sole fact that our foreign players (especially those from the Latin America's) are doubly compromised when it comes round to travelling with their National squads halfway around the globe and back for numerous Internationals/Friendlies etc. There have already been several (unnecessary) breaks in this Domestic season as it is.

IF, there is substance to this story and IF Rafa is considering Tevez (cracking player no doubt....) then next year already has the World Cup in SA on top of how many other pointless soiree's where the Liverpool squad (and other clubs tbf) are decimated by this factor. Not to mention the risks to the players welfare/health etc added in to the equation.

But....

You want quality in the side and that has to come at some cost.

We'll see. Not comfortable with that aspect of it is all im saying, though i would like to see Tevez here - i would be cautious of the implications for THIS club. Never mind Argentina.

Do we really NEED a Tevez in the side though? I would have thought there are other areas for concern which need attention first. We missed (or perhaps were'nt even in for Arshavin) next on my wishlist would be Silva. Then some bolstering of the right flank/defensive positions. But (technically....) another workhorse? - Albeit a very competent one.....

I concur..... Tevez has proven it here...  and we can't afford anymore "risky ...lets give them 2 seasons to settle type of players " if we want to stop manure from ourtaking our league title haul...

Tevez has great close control technique, is fast, is a good passer of the ball...can put in a great cross....

If we get him...he would be a massive improvement over Babel, Riera, Kuyt & Benayoun....

Dont get me wrong here i like Teves and think he's a great player and all but this could be a game changer right here... buy him and i expect us to go out and sell one of Alonso or Mascherano (preferably mascherano) to have Gerrard back in the middle... Gerrard dpwn the right has sort of become a no-no given the way he's been playing down the middle in recent times...

Theres no two ways in looking at this imo... If we're going to go out and buy Tevez then WE ABSOLUTELY HAVE GOT TO play him in his position... anything other than that and i'd call it a waste of money.... bring him in and treat him the way we treated Keane, would be even worse...

I'm not sure why we keep messing up good things everytime we seem to stumble upon them.. seems to be something of a reccurring theme for Benitez.... setup a good side with good players who fit... start looking decent as a unit... BOOM... lets start over again...

All that said... i'd love it if we can somehow get Teves and a right winger and go back to playing 4-4-2... i wouldnt like to think of it as a step down but its a gamble, thats for sure...

not in a million years... i dont think Rafa would change the formation and if we bring in Teves i expect much of the same "ermmm..lets just bench him for this one or throw him down the left flank, 2 upfront is too much for this one" ..

This was the first thing that popped into my mind on Thursday when I first heard the rumour.

Why would a player whose been complaining about sitting on the bench too much for Utd, sign for Liverpool and sit on the bench?

And I can't see him fitting into Rafa's beloved "1 up front" system. I don't think he's that type of player.

I can't see Benitez ship out Alonso though. If he did, after the fantastic season that Xabi has had, he'd be an utter fool.

If Liverpool are going to buy, then they should buy early and have the Summer to test a potential 4-4-2 with Tevez and Torres.

It'll be interesting to see where this goes anyway.

Didn't David Villa say he's not going anywhere earlier this year?

As much as I'd like to see him here with Nando, I don't think it'll ever happen.

Tevez is tailor made for the support striker role....

This way gerrard can go back to midfield when the need calls for it.

The way i see it....the more good players we have the better.... Just look at this season...how many matches have gerrard and torres missed this season ?

It's a concern I have too, but I don't think we can help it.

We just must assume that some players will be out some games during a season, sometimes because tiredness, sometimes because little injuries, sometimes because troublesome trips to La Paz.

As for the another workhorse, I have some problems with this word's meaning as I always see a link between workhorse and lack of pure quality. And for me Tevez has quality.

We certainly need someone upfront. When Torres is not available would you rely on Tevez? I'd do. More than on Keane, Crouch, or Morientes. Can Tevez work with Torres? I think he perfectly can.

Rafa knows what he's doing, worked with Torres. I'm sure he has an eye for who can last in the prem

It's a slightly difference situation as Utd cannot even stop us negotiation. Tevez is only on loan there so any negotiation will be done via Kia J who also manages Masch. Anyway some people are saying Rafa has already spoken to him this week and his reps are meeting the club reps today.
