Dear Mr Wenger,

I know that in the past we haven't seen eye-to-eye, and that you have had some horrible c*nts playing for you; Viera, Petit, Pires, Bergkamp, Van Persie, et al. Let's not dwell on the fact that Rosicki is a w*nker, and that Eboue is a diving, dirty, cheating c*ck-sucker.

Let's not ponder over why Adebayor is sh*t-sniffing wobbly-legged c*nt leakage (with lumps in it), or that Almunia looks like a kebab.

I feel that we should even set aside the fact that you have not only an ex-Manc in your squad, but a FRENCH ex-Manc. Keeping in mind that he looks like a reject from the cast of "The Raggiedolls", and that he smells like a sewer, we should embrace the fact that he has leapt from the darkness and now strives toward the light.

Believe it or not, Arsene (may I call you "Arsene", Arsene?) I am even prepared to forgive you for having a face somewhere between a Shar Pei and a blind cobbler's thumb. (I know, I know - such compassion has n'er been felt since the soft dab of Florence Nightingale's wet hanky.)

The reason for all of this, Arsene (for even you must realise that there is reason behind everything), is because I want you to do something for me. (No, not that - you've spent far too long in dimly-lit rooms with Robin.) No, what I want is something far more beneficial to the World than a quick fumble in the dark with a rapist:

I want you to have an off day tomorrow night. Not "let us win", merely do not try to stop us. 6 or 7 nil, perhaps. A nice, respectable scoreline.
Sadly Arsene, this is a double-edged sword. I also want you to conserve your energies for the Manc match coming up, and blat them all over the pitch. A few cruciate ligament injuries here (Ronaldo, Rooney, Scholes, Carrick, Vidic, Hair-lip Rio, Berbatov, Van Der Sar, Giggs, Evra), a couple of leg-breaks there (Neville, Neville...). You know - decimate them.

Now Arsene, I'm not going to lie to you. I have chosen you as I know that, being French, you are no stranger to surrender. Throughout the ages, the two have gone together like, well, a Frenchman and the white flag.

Anyway - we're not talking a complete going-over tomorrow night. 7-0 isn't exactly a humiliation, now, is it?

(I mean - it's not like we're planning on invading your country or anything... )

Just do this little favour for me, Arsene, and we'll return it as and when the time is right. (I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that Liverpool FC is a damnably good ally to have in times of need - think of us as Great Britain in 1914 and 1940, running to your rescue when you need us most.)

So. Will you do this for me, Arsene good buddy? I know you might, at this juncture, be thinking "that's a lot to ask", but just think about the ghastly atrocities I have forgiven you for; Sagna's hair, Fabregas' mullet, Phillipe Senderos.

Come on Arsene, you know I'm right. Do this for me, and I promise not to call you a c*nt until next season.

Yours,

Lando Griffin.

Great freakin' news !!!!

DUO TO MISS ANFIELD TRIP   - Posted 20/04/09

Arsenal will be without leading scorer Robin van Persie (groin) and striker Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring) for Tuesday night's trip to Liverpool.

However, full-back Bacary Sagna has recovered from a virus and could feature at Anfield, along with fit-again Croatia forward Eduardo.

Despite his Wembley nightmare in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final, Lukasz Fabianski will again deputise in goal for Manuel Almunia (ankle), while defenders Gael Clichy (back), William Gallas (knee) and Johan Djourou (knee) are all sidelined.

Liverpool will be without captain Steven Gerrard.  The England midfielder is expected to remain sidelined for another seven to 10 days with a groin problem having sat out the last two matches.

However, with a week's rest since their Champions League exit to Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez may not feel the need to rotate his side too much against the Gunners.

Teams

Liverpool (from): Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher, Hyypia, Agger, Skrtel, Dossena, Aurelio, Insua, Benayoun, Riera, Mascherano, Alonso, Lucas, Kuyt, Torres, Ngog, El Zhar, Cavalieri.

Arsenal (from): Fabianski, Sagna, Toure, Silvestre, Gibbs, Arshavin, Song, Fabregas, Walcott, Bendtner, Eduardo, Mannone, Eboue, Nasri, Diaby, Vela, Denilson, Ramsey.

Massive boost for us.

We really really need to win tomorrow if we are to win the league. If we beat the Gunners then the pressure will be on UTd to beat them, and that won't be easy seeing that they have a triple header with Arsenal coming up.

that is a big bonus but they will still have a lot of players who can hurt us so we still have to be careful but we should be able to pick them apart  :;):

I would make an individual mark on Fabregas, he is the soul of  Arsenal, the team doesn´t work without him. Mascherano would do a good job.

We really really need to win tomorrow if we are to win the league. If we beat the Gunners then the pressure will be on UTd to beat them, and that won't be easy seeing that they have a triple header with Arsenal coming up.

The key might be Fabianski, a weak link behind a weakened Arsenal defence and unlikely to become as classy as Wenger suggested - probably more to boost his keeper than a claim with any substance.

I'd rather not see Fabregas, Arshavin, Walcott and Eduardo available, but we can't have everything. They've had two games in four days, we've not played since 24 hours before their first of those two. The FA Cup final isn't until 30th May so the chances are they'd not have been distracted by that anyway.

Here's a slightly unusual set of statistics for everyone, based on days and dates.

vs Arsenal by day of the week

Monday : P3 W2 D0 L1 F4 A3 PTS 6
TUESDAY : P1 W1 D0 L0 F1 A0 PTS 3
Wednesday : P4 W2 D2 L0 F7 A2 PTS 8
Friday : P1 W0 D0 L1 F2 A4 PTS 0

The only time we've met Arsenal on a Tuesday in the Premierhip we won, 1-0 and at Anfield only three years ago. We've lost only twice to Arsenal in nine games not played at the weekend.

Weekday : P9 W5 D2 L2 F14 A9 (Won 55.56%)
Weekend : P24 W9 D8 L7 F30 A23 (Won 37.50%)

We've played 27 Premiership matches overall on a Tuesday, with a record of P27 W11 D12 L4 F38 A26 (Won 40.74%) Not surprisingly we've played more matches on a Wednesday (70) and, given the current TV scheduling, Monday (45)

vs Arsenal By month

January : P4 W1 D3 L0 F4 A3 PTS 6
February : P2 W2 D0 L0 F2 A0 PTS 6
March : P4 W2 D0 L2 F7 A5 PTS 6
APRIL : P3 W1 D1 L1 F4 A5 PTS 4
May : P3 W1 D1 L1 F5 A3 PTS 4

August : P6 W3 D1 L2 F7 A4 PTS 10

October : P3 W0 D2 L1 F2 A3 PTS 2
November : P3 W2 D0 L1 F3 A4 PTS 6
December : P5 W2 D2 L1 F10 A5 PTS 8

Surprisingly we've never played Arsenal in September, just as well if it turned out anything like our record against them in October.

Aug-Dec : P17 W7 D5 L5 F22 A16 (Won 41.18%)
Jan-May : P16 W7 D5 L4 F22 A16 (Won 43.75%)
