Benitez has said that he wanted to sign Woodgate but he couldnt match Madrids offer.

As he has made this matter public........is it a statement of his intentions to want to buy the best players that are available, or is it a public criticism of the board for not making the money available?

Either way, it sounds like Everton over the last few pre seasons who have always expressed interest in, and put bids in for players that they could never afford.

Im still trying to work out his intentions for releasing this piece of information. I find the statement worrying. Maybe Im reading too much into it? What do you think?
