Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

What a game ! I am so proud of the way we went for it last night it kind of takes away some of the pain that we are out ???

To those of you who spent most of the night slating Kuyt,Lucas,Pepe or anyone else, hang your heads in shame ( THATS WHY IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO POST IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT ! ) behaving like spoilt little kids, stamping your fingers on the keyboard, then using the same fingers to congratulate and cheer when two of those same players wearing a LIVERPOOL shirt scored two of the goals that almost took us through.

I can only imagine the ammount of spilt drinks that occured from all the knee jerking going on in this thread during the game, the match threads are a great idea for the people who cant make it to the game or watch it and need to know what is going on........ but in some cases it is better for people to THINK you are an idiot instead of opening your mouth and confirming it  :no

Massive match now against Arsenal - hopefully Stevie will be fit enough for it. With our current form and home advantage we should pick up three points but its by no means guaranteed - Arsenal are unbeaten in 18 games.

IF we do get the win we will be in a nice position given that Chelsea and United both have them still to play.

BTW anyone want a Cat. 3 ticket for the CL final in the neutral area - face value 113 euro and return flights from Dublin which cost 340 quid let me know.  :D

Strange thing is my mate still wants to go over - I can't really see the point now the 'Pool aren't going to be there. The annoying thing is I'd planned to go to the Arsenal and Newcastle games but can't because of the CL final.  :(

Drogba worst cheating :censored: in the prem, when he rolled back onto the pitch i would have loved one of our players to roll him back off.

Could have gone down as one the greats but he is just a cheating :censored: :censored:.

some very fickle fans we have

Like who? Who are the fickle fans, are there people who praise Lucas and Kuyt one moment and then slag them off the next, who are these fans? Because changing your opinion is a terrible thing isn't it, just ask Ciggy who a few months ago wanted Rafa out out out.  :D

Anyway to the game, wow what a rollercoaster, I had a bad feeling at the start, was feeling more positive when Aurelio audacious freekick went in, so i guess he does have some plus points guess that makes me fickle, even more positive at the slightly dubious pen we got and scored. So at half time I was thinking we're actually gonna do this we are actually going to turn this round but then what the hell happened in the second half and what did Rafa and Sammy say at half time because all the passion and desire vanished for about 30 minutes and Chelsea completely dominated scoring one ridiculous goal, Reina :no , and two very good ones, until we took off Torres, which is perhaps my only criticism of Rafa all game, and then we get a very lucky goal via Lucas and a brilliant header from Kuyt. But then Lampard puts the nail in the coffin and it ends a draw. Overall very happy with the game and the effort from all the players. A massively entertaining game and I'm actually not too disappointed we didn't win, just hope Manure win tonight, the more games they get the better for us. Let's snatch the league from them now.   :buttrock  :buttrock

I think Torres took a knock Heimdall and was taken off as a precaution - also wasnt in the game . I think chelsea just came out more fired up second half

A game of four halves, unfortunately from decent positions at half-time in both we couldn't push on and get the results that would have seen us through

1st Leg, 1st Half : 1-1 (agg 1-1) : not having the best of it despite scoring first
1st Leg, 2nd Half : 0-2 (agg 1-3) : costly
2nd Leg, 1st Half : 2-0 (agg 3-3) : on level terms, played well and could have gone ahead on aggregate
2nd Leg, 2nd Half : 2-4 (agg 5-7) : four goals conceded in 45 mins won't win you many matches

Six of their seven goals in the 2nd halves, too many free-kicks conceded 2nd half last night and it put us on the back foot. We needed to score goals, but at 2-0 up at half time it needed a more measured ad controlled game 2nd half. Half time came just at the right time for Chelsea 2nd leg and they made most of it, it came at a good time for us 1st leg and we didn't make most of it.

We played well 1st half last night, although the goals we scored were somewhat fortunate - a goalkeeping error (in position) allowing Aurelio to score from a free-kick, and a penalty for holding on Alonso. Torres missed a great opportunity and we had them on the rack, I was a bit surprised that Rafa started with Lucas in the position he did and not Benayoun with Riera on the left. That said Lucas played pretty well, I think the 2nd half told though. I think one or two will get carried away with the emotion of the night, we played well 1st half but from 2-0 up we could have, and maybe should have, done better. Four goals in a half got Barcelona praise and Bayern Munich slated, maybe the situation was different for us, but to concede four at 2-0 up is still poor defensively. Were our goals masterfully created or three out of the four a free-kick catching the keeper out, a penalty for holding and a deflected Lucas shot? (Kuyt scoring well from a good cross for the other)

Still, out of it was the likely outcome at the start and ended up the outcome at the end of the night. An entertaining game was a good tribute to the 96, just a shame it couldn't have been 4-2 and not 4-4 - some of their goals were avoidable. Let's just hope Judge's insistence on starting match threads won't jinx us next game.

I was watching the game with my new girlfriend who doesn't know too much about football, spent half the bleeding game explaining the rules which was not exactly ideal timing but there were fringe benefits later on  :;):

Anyway the point is that the first time she clapped eyes on Drogba her first words were what a horrible man he looks, it's that obvious even too independents!
For me, even though I hate Manure as a team I like most of them as players with the huge exception of Ronaldo and Neville but Chelsea I don't give a feck about as a team but I loath Drogba and Lampard.

i can't hope that united win tonight, i want them out of europe     (but i think they'll win 2-0)

regarding last nights' game, i'm really disapointed, to get to 2-0 and then give it away.... but i don't blame rafa.

as the man himself said after the game:

'We showed character, quality and we have to be really proud,' said Benitez.

'The players have done a fantastic job and the fans will be very pleased with the team.

'We were on top of them from the beginning and doing a fantastic job. It is a credit to all the players, especially Lucas in the middle in the position of Steven Gerrard - he worked very hard.

'Thanks to them we were pushing and were very close. But when you play against a good team like Chelsea, if you make a mistake you pay for them.

'We were attacking and controlling but one or two mistakes allowed them to score.

Well at the time even I was going ok fair enough the game's lost we're never going to get three, but how we could have used a moment of magic from Nando after the goals of Kuyt and Lucas. Eggnog is just fecking horrible, sorry to be negative but did he even touch the ball?
