Richard Hall

About 3 mins into it he does his Tom Cruise bit

As an actor I think he has improved. His earlier films all carried the same kind of theme but then again many actors/actresses have done the same, who has ever seen a Jean Claude Van Damme film that has a different theme to the last one he made? As a person I think hes alright, he goes out of his way to sign autographs for his fans, no matter how long it takes while some lesser actor who has done only a couple of big films think they are god like and dont have to entertain the public. Eccentric and a bit weird, but I can think of worse actors or personalities.

he is creepy but I think he is a good actor. born on the 4th of july was class, I liked his character in magnolia (respect the c*ck!), rainman and tropic thunder too. four very different performances.

I am just suspicious of people being preechy, even tony blair who changed religion once his time as PM was over (why pretend he was protestant, it isn't really a  big deal that he is catholic, no votes would be lost).

George Bush has probably ruined being openly religous as most people think he was extremely un-christian.

Eyes Wide Shut was sh*te, Daws. Sorry, but it just was. All it was was an excuse for a big orgy in the middle of the film. Good enough for some, but that was then, and this is now, and of course we can all go see real orgies from the net anytime we want. Kubrick was weird like that.

And are you sure about anything Fincher has done? Alien 3 was a bit sh*t as was Panic Room.

Maybe he (Noah not Tom Cruise ) took eggs on the Ark, and then they hatched and all the creatures appeared ( Dinosaurs to :D ), surely that is an acceptable explanation, after all the Ark was huge and eggs are only small and dont really take up that much room ?

The old which came first debate

Talking a bout cinematograph dude. Watch Alien3, see how the film looks. Plus Panic room has got some of the best shots in cinema. One of the earliest shots zooms right into a kettle, hard to explain but the cinematogrpahy is superb. (anyone else know what I'm on about?)

as for Eyes Wide shut, the use of colour and sound is unsurpassed and the film is  lot more than just an orgy. watch the actual film, it's creepy, well filmed, perfectly lit and every frame could be paused to make a photograph. (and I'm not just talking about the orgy) Have a go at Cruise, but you can't say Kubrick wasn't a total genius, you just can't!

and back to Tom Cruise and Scientology... don't a lot of hindus believe in an elephant god and the dude with like 6 arms? Are aliens really that far fetched or just another side to a story?

If i said my neighbour grew wings at night and flies around you would say I was mad or a liar or at the very least ask for evidence. if i say it is my religion that my neighbour can do this and I read it a book - then you are supposed to respect my view.

you are right though, holy elephant, six armed man, wine turning to blood, seas parting, we are alien spirits occupying human bodies, 1000 year old men, 72 virgins in heaven, women from mans rib, reincarnation, karma, shaving your hair so god can reach you, wearing a cap to create better energy with god, a married virgin being pregnant etc are all ridiculous beliefs but because they are tagged as religion they mustn' t be questioned.

I did seriously enjoy that film though and only saw it a few months ago due to my pre-conceived idea of what a Tom Cruise film was going to be like but I was more than pleasantly surprised. Sometimes actors have an unfair press and become unfashionable for other reasons other than their acting ability.

The film uses some unique angles and it's different. Loved it !

Best cinematography I've seen since "Road to Perdition" ----- Was Tom in that ! :D

hanks :D

an honest question.

Most people on this site are probably protestant and I was raised catholic (although atheist now) - I know protestants put a lot less emphasis on Mary the mother of jesus than catholics do - I don't think protestants have statues of mary- correct me if I am wrong, as I honestly don't mean offence, i am just showing my ignorance.

However, assuming protestants believe the same stuff catholics do, do you believe a married woman was still a virgin, and that she then became pregnant, and her husband thought this was all okay?

Mary isnt a saint in the Protestant religion so her significance isnt as important. The whole miracle birth thing is still in full flow but you'd think most half sensible people would take that with a pinch of salt, though some of them believe the world is 12,000 years old so I cant really speak on their behalf. Cause they're mentalists.

Mary's not impoartant at all in all this, its all about the bearded one.

But yeah, if you can believe in a God, in Heaven or the afetrlife, what about the virgin birth?

As always it all comes down to faith

but isn't faith just another word for believing in the unbelievable?

I mean surely the "miracle" of the birth of jesus is important. do you believe in the three wise men? Noah's arc, Moses splitting the sea? the story of where the ten commandments come from? adam and eve? some guy lived to be a few hundred years old (possibly methusalah), women feel pain in childbirth because of gods punishment to women for eve eating that apple.

If even one of the above is unbelievable to you that means that you do not believe the bible is the word of god.
