Nope .. that was a "school boy error". He should close the gap ...

As emotionally draining as football matches go.

Getting to 2-0 in the first half exceeded my highest expectations. Shame that half time gave them a chance to get their heads together. In all honesty though, for some reason I don't feel as bad as I thought. This was such a huge task, and we gave it our all. Fans were superb too. The Chelsea side we've faced over the past week is not the same one we beat twice this season, they've been given a new lease of confidence and are back to their best.

Going out of the Champions League gives me such a horrible feeling, especially to that lot of plastic, diving cockneys. However there is a huge positive here. Let them and the Mancs juggle their priorities whilst we focus on the one we all really wanted at the start of the season.

It's still his fault mate.  You can't be beaten at your near post from that position.  He lost concentration.  Not like him either.

joe i think that chelsea used the ref to their advantage big time in the 2nd half to win very disputable fouls in dangerous areas, 1 they even scored from. But for me this stop/start tactic negated Liverpools control of the game. And honestly, for Chelseas last goal Drogba PLOUGHED into the back of his marker (cant recall I think it was Carra or Arby) and somehow they won a throw, which they scored from. So in my eyes he made a major difference.

And yes he gave a penalty but it seemed from the moment he did we couldnt get a whistle in our favour

I absolutely love this football club. Seriously cant fault the lads in any way. The gulf in class between the 2 sides tonight was visable for all the world to see. Chelsea's fake flags, fake fans. Clive Tilsley summed it up perfectly, something along the lines of " Chelsea put flags on the seats for there fans tonight, Liverpool dont need them, they bring there own." Fabulous. Seriously i dont feel hardly a sense of bitterness, becasue this clubs made me more proud than i thought was possible tonight.

Set aside we are all "experts" after the fact a - how come going into a game when you KNOW you must score 3 goals at least with only 3 natural attacking players (torres/yossi/Kuyt) a reasonable tactic?

How is it reasonable that after leading 2 up at half time and you MUST score another and it's not as all the players are having their game of their lifes you don't change a thing?

F*ck it let's take the premiership.

THE LADS DID WELL TONIGHT AND WERE VERY UNLUCKY THEY HAD A GUTLESS REF PLAYING AGAINST THEM, CHELSEA SHOWED JUST WHY EVERYBODY HATES THEM, THEY ARE A CHEAT TEAM AND DONT CARE HOW THEY WIN
DROGBA FOR ME HAS EDGED AHEAD OF RONALDO IN PLAYERS I HATE THE MOST

PS JUT NOTICED IM WRITTING IN CAPS BUT IM TOO :censored: AND TOO GUTTED TO CHANGE IT

You can't seriously blame the ref for this can you??

Yes he was a frustrating ref, but equally for both sides.  He let absolutely no contact go without a free kick.  Can you honestly say that the penalty was a clear penalty?  By the letter of the law it should be, but you have to be extremely lucky to have one of those given.

He was a poor ref but overall I don't think it benefitted either side, things evened out.

the pen we won was stone wall ivanovic had xabi in a headlock for the penalty the ref gave free kicks left right and centre the only difference was our players were fouled and chelsea players were diving to the floor like they had been shot
believe me im not the type to look for excuses if were outplayed fair enough but the ref was a joke tonight and chelsea won alot more undeserved free kicks then us nobody that watched the game can doubt that and a few of them were very costly

The referee gave them 3 goals by his mistakes. That is the truth.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

i agree reina made a big mistake for us tonight and i thought he could have done better for the free kick, but hes been brilliant for us since he signed and i still rate him as one of the worlds best

I mentioned that a few pages back, he said "The club put out free flags for the fans to show their support" then the camera panned onto the liverpool fans and he said " they dont need them, they bring there own atmosphere"

ok need a buttrock....... :buttrock

football doesnt work like that mate, you have to take control in midfield before you can score goals or you just end up playing 70yard hit n hopes for 90mins. Rafa got this spot on, though I think Mascherano being back in the side contributed greatly in this and as we dominated position we created chances and scored 2 goals in a very lopsided 1st half. I understand where you are coming in thinking Babel would have been a better offensive option but the truth is the guy has been medicore all season, where Benny has been 1 of our best performers in the last 2 months.
