the key is really to get an early goal, though bolton did manage 3 in the last 10 mins. maybe we should just empty the barrel and play direct all night, stick hypia up top and just hooooooooooooooff!

Despite that I would still feel uneasy about going a goal down first. Psycologically it makes it a step harder and also if they have scored a goal, unless it is against the run of play you can bet they probabaly will have worked for it and if that is a case then that will mean we are not playing well.

for fuks sakes people... we'r playing chelsea not hartlepool or some second rate side... you can bet your a$s if they score one early on they'll sit back and make things very very hard for us going forward... they'll probably play us on the counter and the way we've been defending it wouldnt surprise me if we get caught on the counter more than once...

we need to make sure we take our chances.. thats the key to us going through imo... wouldnt expect Rafa to be naive enough to go out and tell everyone to push forward and try to score as many without giving our defense much thought.. conceding could prove to be every bit as important as scoring if we open up the game too much... what we need is people running with the ball (and without) and trying to open up spaces for others to exploit... im sure Chelsea will try to play it tight... try to slow down the game at every chance and they do have the players, quality, and experience to do so... we'll need people crossing from the byline.. midfielders willing to make forward runs and wingers who are comfortable with the ball being at their feet... sadly, we lack all the above mentioned it seems ...

cant remember which game it was exactly but i seem to remember Gerrard drifting to the right alot in one game with Kuyt making runs to the penalty box leaving Gerrard and Arbeloa to take care of the attacking duties down the right... Gerrard was crossing at every chance and it seemed threatening every damn time... i'd expect to see more of that... Aurelio to go beyond Riera at every chance... and perhaps have a word with Alonso and tell him to hit it from outside the box at every chance...

long shot but wh what the hell should be interesting... lets make history again...

We'll get an early goal and then another just before half time. I can see us winning this 4-0, but 3-0 or 4-2 would be just as good.

Yeah Rafa should have used him instead of Spearing who will probably not even play on Tuesday or even make another appearance should we progress.

Go 4-4-2, Kuyt and Torres up top. Go for goals. No messing. Drop Benny or even Gerrard into the RM position.

If we're going to lose, we might as well lose by 10-0, as lose by 1-0.

But 3 goals at their gaff will be a tall order and Dogbag looks like he's back on form.

Bolton doing it yesterday has me feeling kind of positive about this match though.

Where would you have Stevie play Tonyeh? In CM or on the right? If he plays in the middle it gives Essien another crack at man marking him. Someone picked up him the other night, when Stevie moved to wing Essien backed off so maybe the key is play Gerrard on the right. Or play him up front with Torres.

I'm sorry but how can you put ElZhar in your team ahead of both Kuyt and Benayoun and not explain why?Also, you can't o to Chelsea and play a formation that you have never tried before and explect to win surely?
