Well here we go again...
Its Liverpool vs Chelsea for the fifth consecutive year. It got to the stage where we nearly expect to play them in this competition. When the draw was made we all knew it was coming. Both clubs didn't want it, the fans didn't want it, even the players came out and said they didn't want it, but here we are.
The rivalry between Liverpool and Chelsea has intensified over the course of eight UEFA Champions League encounters since 2005. Each side has won two games – but never by more than a single goal.
The full breakdown of results is:
2007/08 semi-final
Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea (Kuyt 43; Riise own goal 90+4)
Chelsea 3-2 Liverpool (Drogba 33 115, Lampard 98 pen; Torres 64, Babel 117)
Chelsea won 4-3 on aggregate
2006/07 semi-final
Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool (J Cole 29)
Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea (Agger 22)
Aggregate 1-1; Liverpool won 4-1 on penalties
2005/06 group stage
Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool
2004/05 semi-final
Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool
Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea (García 4)
Liverpool won 1-0 on aggregate
It has been said that this year Chelsea have an advantage in that the second leg is in London. Last year it proved effective but only just. This year the second leg will be played on Tuesday the 14th of April, the day before the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. For that reason alone I think that if we hold an advantage going into the second leg the team will badly want to mark the occasion with progress.
At the moment we are in a rich vein of form and it couldn't have come at a better time. In our last five games we have won all five, scoring 16 goals and conceding 1. Confidence seems to be high throught the team and there is a belief among fans that we can take on and beat anyone at the moment. Chelsea also look good at the moment, they have become stronger since the arrival of Hiddink and in their last 5 games the have won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1. Crucially they have Essien back and if Drogba decides to turn up they have one of the best forward in the league.
With the first leg at home we must build up a lead to take to Standford Bridge. These matches are usually cagey affairs but the way we have been playing lately I think we will go at them from the start and I think we can come away with a 2-0 win
I would go with this team....
Reina
Arba - Skertl - Carra - Aurelio
Kuyt - Masch - Alonso - Riera
Gerrard
Torres

if it was to be so that we go out i would want an ars v bars final
yeah for real. would repeat 2006 final.. would prefer villareal or porto vs barca to be honest
no cos bars would feck ars over again and that would knock them for six again
see there is thought to the madness

Its 2 goals from poor defending, not 2 goals from zonal marking.
They should be marking their man. Not their fucking zone.
they should do exactly as instructed...bar zonal/man 2 man marking....our player just sit and watch chelsea player move on/off the ball...
Because they're marking a zone and not the player.
they're marking a player that enters their zone you tart
And when he leaves that zone to go on and score? Where's the Liverpool player?
That's right, still marking his zone.
whichever zone he goes into should pick him up - zonal marking has made us one of the best sides defensively - that is fact
