Patience my dear Kennyboy.

Do you know what my mind and body go through to affect the course of a Liverpool football match? It is an unbearable psychic turmoil I go through. :O

As I type, I am typing in a semi-conscious state, my eyes are closed and I am trusting my sub-conscious brain to send the right messages to my fingers to type these words. :rasp

There is a Champions league game before the next Premier game, so hopefully European-Kings will start that thread soon as he has a good thread record.

i think they (moans about rotation) always are results driven , aren't they?

when a manager changes things and we win, it's always the correct decision  :bowdown

to Bam:  Yossi got injured in training. This is why he was not in the team for those recent games. Also you might recall there was issue between Yossi and Rafa about Yossi playing for Israel despite not being fit enough to play for Liverpool the weeks before and he actually hurt his calf a bit while playing against Greece and had to be taken off (although some reports say it was just a cramp)

to Owzat: what about Dossena's diving header from Gerrards cross? He had the goal at his mercy and was just as unlucky as Torres not to score. And Torres certainly should have scored when he passed it to the goal low and to the bottom corner. And Torres header that went straight at the keeper, he puts that either side and its in.

Although we didn't create as much in the 2nd half and our approach seemed even slower, we still had 3 or 4 other opportunities to score like when Yossi missed wide a few minutes before he scored and whoever dragged it just wide with Lucas waiting at the back post.

I couldn't have pointed the finger or complained too much had we not won the game yesterday, they were VERY very organised and set themselves up (and executed it) much the same as we do away in Europe. You could argue our tempo could have been up a little but it was a good performance. We kept, and used width for the full 90 (make that 94!) mins and our fullbacks were both excellent yesterday, if I had to pick a man of the match it would be one of those two. Lucas had a solid game in the middle and Dossena did fine. Great to see us playing with such patience even in injury time, we didn't start lumping it or hitting hollywood balls, just kept doing what we had been doing all game, probing, switching play and waiting for the opportunity. Well in lads, Well in Rafa   :bowdown

It's a good point Scott. I was really impressed with their defence with Hangeland and Hughes in front of Schwarzer. I thought Paintsil had a great game. They were highly organised and difficult to break down. Coming straight after the internationals it was a 'banana skin' of the highest order. Must have been magic to be there when Yossi scored the winner!

I think Scottbot is spot on when he says they were very organised. If they're comfortable out of relegation is more due to a good defensive work rather than the magic Dempsey and Zamora provide.

The game looked as if it surprised Rafa and the lads in the first minutes, but it took about 15-20 mins and our midfield was winning most of the actions.

We scored in the last minute of hope, but that is an anecdote, because we could have finnished the game in the first half. I remember a touch of Dossenna with the exterior of his boot, great shot great save. I remember another situation in which Dossena backheaded the ball and it went to the stick, and yet another occasion of Dossena in which his header went to the stick again. And the occassion of Torres, almost identical to a recent goal he has scored, this time to the woodwork.

Bar the initial 15 minutes then, I saw a good Liverpool against a team that things did well. Besides the above chances, we finnished many of our plays with a shot, Alonso shot no less than 4 times thanks to well driven plays of his teammates. Pity he didn't score

Why they didn't get 4 goals? because yesterday we were not as lethally effective. But it was a very good win. A very good one.

A comment on INsua, I can see where the mates that rate him come from. He has quality that is obvious, but IMHO he's not yet ready to play regularly in league deciding games. He's only 19, and mistakes of hesitations like the one he did in the end of first half could cost points.

This is not stick to the player, but protection. He has to enter the team progresively and with no hurries, he has a lot to learn, but I definitely agree there's a future for this player in this club. I just wish we do not put much hopes on him too early and "burn" him.

Another negative I'd mention is a couple of concentration mistakes of Skrtel. Other than that very very happy with the performance and the final result.

how is insua being a quality LB, a NEGATIVE ?  :D

skrtl made a bad mis-pass in the first half that could have ended badly, but the whole performance of the team was fantastic, so i don't see any negatives at all yesterday  :buttrock

The one thing that struck me was the celebration to the goal and the way the team celebrated at the final whistle.  They looked like a team who were delighted with the win and a team that are really up for it

To be honest in regards to Insua, Aurelio tends to pick up injuries too easily and Dossena is probably the worst LB I have seen in a while so we have to play Insua more, even in the big matches. Besides today he had to play as Rafa was shielding Aurelio for the CL as Insua is not registered. However also only by playing on a regular basis will he improve and he is always improving.

Skrtel has been :censored: since he came back from injury.
