military should get a pay rise for being in war??? should a bus driver get a pay rise for driving a bus? its their job!

Every country is making less money so they cannot afford to pay out the same wages. so yes, teachers, nurses, soldiers, policemen etc, are all paid by taxpayers and taxpayers now have less money and so we should pay the people we employ less money.

The millitary are treated poorly by the governent. Not enough funding for injured troops ect... Unfortunatley the reasons for recent wars may not be fully accepted by all but those serving on the front lines should always be well looked after.

Anyway so it seems there is a 1trillion pound deal in place. However I am a little confused. That money is for loans ect and not a fiscal stimulus. So what :censored: good is that going to do for sectors where jobs are being cut? This is just for the banks to lend again which is what got them in the first place. When will these people learn? When the banking system fully colapses I think.

What are people's views on the G 20 and NATO summits going on?

Obama has looked pretty good in his speeches so far, but in terms of the American agenda he has failed.

What they said was the same old illusionary shi.t that gets spouted every time there is a G event. This doesn't help inflation, it doesn't help first time house buyers, it doesn't help tax levels or interest rates for savers.

Yes people should be paid or given pay rises if they risk their life in war to uphold and protect the democracy we live in. I don't know about your soldiers and government (I am presuming you are from EIRE) if thats the case your soldiers probably don't deserve a pay rise.

N.Ireland, Scottish, Welsh and English troops deserve a lot better as far as their pay is concerned. They get treated appallingly by the government if they come back with the loss of limbs and or any kind of physical and metal impairment. The pay outs are not substaintial enough and these troops who fight for their country do not get their just deserves.

GYBS I don't know about the pay in Britain for our soldiers, but the Australian government pay 60.000 dollars approximately 30.000 pounds for a six month stint in Afghan TAX FREE. How would that compare to Britain.

Niall Nurses, policeman, teachers and any other public sectors deserve their pay rise's just like any other joe blogg. Their proffesions are essential to the health and education of society. And just becasue the government cannot be more astute/logical/clever with it's finances it isnt the public sectors fault, and the notion of 'because I'm suffering finacially means the public sector must suffer finacially' mantra for me is morally for so many reasons..

When you say civilian counterparts do you mean private security contracters such as Blackwater?
