I detest the Sun newspaper, and will not buy it, read it or have it in my house....There are many reasons for this, the main one being the disgusting filthy headline they put on their front page all those years ago but also becasue I grew up poor under Thatcher and the Sun backed her, and because my dad went on strike in the 80s (he was a train driver) and we got bricks through our windows becasue of that rag.
There was a period when tabloid newspapers would print anything to dramatise and sell themselves, and the Sun was the worst of that group. Tabloids became a parody of life and never printed real news, but crappy stories about nothing and they did not care if it was true or not or who was hurt or libled.
It is very very easy to hold on to the hate that the Sun has earned from every person connected with Liverpool football club. But I no longer shun the rag becasue of what it has done, I dont read it becasue it is Kack and is not worth reading. I have appreciated the numerous apologies that have been printed over the years and in a way have forgiven them, but at the same time I will never forget.
However I do see some of the posts on here as just as hateful and pathetic as those printed in the Sun. We have to be better than that. Its ok to hate them, but we have to display dignity and respect the memory of the 96 in the right way. Swearing and insulting achieves nothing and just makes us look stupid and ignorant.
For the families and friends of the 96 however it is a different story. I did not lose anyone close to me that day so cannot understand what they feel or are going through.
