no need for apologies mate...

enjoying every game myself and hopefully manutd crash and burn (ooo... shouldnt have used that... dont mean anything by it so lets not get touchy here) and we go out and continue our great form...

certainly makes for an interesting end for the season... Arsenal, City and Villa... im thinking we'll probably drop a couple of points along the way so UTD need to drop points in 3 games... the 3 sides above are our best chance of winning it... go get em boys.. we shake 'em now you drop 'em...  :p

It was a tough choice - losing to them in a European Cup Final would be gut-wrenching.

A European Final against them is not worth thinking about.

If we did i would have still gone for Europe...

Beating them in a final... ooo yeaaa

We have no chance?
I find posts like that coming from an LFC fan totally unbelievable..Given the mathematics of the situation, our form compaired to theirs!
The fact we are flying high, they are stuttering, under pressure loosing discipline on the pitch. There is absolutely no pressure on us to win it now,all the pressure is on them to hold their nerve.everyone had us dead and buried weeks ago.Now look at whats happened we are one behind them,4 IF they win their game in hand and still with 24 points to play for!
Call that NO chance, theirs every chance mate!
Or should we believe that UTD will come good and we will fall apart?Yeah thats faith!

I hope you were only joking..Any fan of this club that feels we have NO CHANCE after watching what has happened over the last couple of fantastic weeks needs a reality check!
I really hope you were only joking..you were right?

Manchester UTD had a massive superiority complex on us until that 4-1 drumming we gave them..It fuc'king shattered them!

Oh BTW title for me please! :D

what a fine fanta free post baz :D

unlike 1977 & 1978 which were only back to back European Cups  :eyebrow

Weren't Milan the last team to win back to back European Cups?

EUROPEAN CUP BACK2BACK

5 in a row : Real Madrid (1956-1960)
3 in a row : Ajax (1971-1973), Bayern Munich (1974-1976)
2 in a row : Benfica (1961/1962), Inter Milan (1964/1965), LIVERPOOL (1977/1978), Notts Forest (1979/1980), AC Milan (1989/1990)

So if you think about it, only truly great teams defend their titles successfully and would we really want the mancs to equal our achievement of 1977/1978 when they'll also claim it is much harder to do now too? We were the first British team to do it, despite their dominance in the "modern era", the mancs haven't won more than two isolated European Cups.

And another thing to consider is fergie himself, he is only on two. He lands a third and he's equalled Sir Bob Paisley........................ it would give the mancs and fergie supporters more ammo to claim he is the better manager

GYBS wrote:They have lost to Fulham and City already this year i think adn have villa as well as a derby to play as well as arsenal and a a couple of teams fighting for survival so there is every chance possible that they could drop points .

Don't believe they've lost to City this year, last year they did.

Manc defeats 08/09

PREM : Liverpool (H&A), Arsenal (A), Fulham (A)
CL : n/a - I believe their last defeat was AC Milan (SF) in 06/07
Carling Cup : Derby (A) SF 1st leg
FA Cup : n/a
CWC : n/a - played a couple of nobodies
Super Cup : Zenit SP (N)

So they've lost four times away from home and once each at home and on neutral ground. They're not unbeatable by any means, but having had a slow start they have improved immensely to lose only four games in their last 44 of which two were their last two

Man Utd 08/09

Games 01-07 : P7 W1 D4 L2 (Won 14.28%)
Games 08-44 : P37 W29 D6 L2 (Won 78.38%)
Games 45-51 : P7 W3 D2 L2 (Won 42.86%)

Or evenly split, as it happens this shows they lose about two games for every 17 they play pretty consistently and also shows how they've steadily won more games as the season has gone on.

Games 01-17 : P17 W9 D6 L2 (Won 52.94%)
Games 18-34 : P17 W11 D4 L2 (Won 64.71%)
Games 35-51 : P17 W13 D2 L2 (Won 76.47%)

Before their last two games they were in a run of 14 wins in 16 games, 11 wins in a row in there. Overall they win about 65% of their games, they win enough games in the right competitions to make them contenders for everything.

We've played 45 games, six less but that's because we weren't in the exhibition 'competitions' they qualified for.

Liverpool 08/09

Games 01-15 : P15 W11 D4 L0 (Won 73.33%)
Games 16-30 : P15 W8 D5 L2 (Won 53.33%)
Games 31-45 : P15 W7 D6 L2 (Won 46.67%)

So we're on a high from a sudden reversal of fortunes, but we've won less games as the season goes on and drawn more. What makes it most disappointing is we made a phenomenal start.

Before 1st defeat of the season : P16 W12 D4 L0 (Won 75.0%)
After 1st defeat of the season : P28 W14 D11 L3 (Won 50.00%)

Maybe the 1st defeat just kicks off a little negativity within Rafa, maybe it's just inevitable we will tail off and not be able to maintain such impressive form

Yeah but 3 european cups in 20 odd years. But they reallly have an easier draw this season. thought they would draw Barca and get mauled  :(
