Playing great at the moment but as for next seaon would not give him the right mid pos.. We really need a class player and a natural winger there. Kuyt is naturally  striker so when he plays shyte at right mid is not his falut.

I'm really pleased I reopened the DK post. I know he :censored: up but some of the criticism he gets is just bollux and it's great to see so many positive comments. His attitude and work rate are fantastic and that is why Rafa won't be looking to replace him. He is better than a squad player and I for one would leave well alone. If the team play :censored: why should we expect Kuyt to be brilliant and if he isn't then blame him for everything?

He's in decent form right now, but is still no where near the required quality, needs to replaced by a better player A.S.A.P. At the most he's a decent squad player, but we should be looking to replace him someone much better in the summer if were ever going to progress from a good team to a great one.

apart from a peroid of about a month around jan when the whole team was playing poor he has been great - as been mentioned nearly up to double figures in goals playing from the right - what other right sided player in the league has had a better end product than him this season ? i reckon - not one.

people talk about getting rid far too easily - he is one of the main reasons this season we are up their challenging - what more can he do to prove to certain people that he is more than just an ok squad player and will not be going anywhere

Absolute rubbish, Kuyt has been dire for large amounts of the season, and was by a distance our worst performer in the winter months. Yeah he scores some goals, ill give him that. However his overall contribution is often poor, his lack of first touch and passing abilty is shocking for a player at the level he is playing at. Id keep him in the squad, as he can do a job upfront and on the wing, but we can and must go for someone much better in the summer.

He has been decent, and to be fair to him he scores some very important goals.
That said, he is still one of the reasons at times that we dont break quick enough and maximise our counter attacks.
With Stevie and Torres and even Babel when selected we have some serious danger on the counter.
But if we did have someone a bit quicker (not just pace, speed of thought as well) than Kuyt, we would imo definately be more of an attacking threat.
Like Fowler_E7 said, keep him as a squad player, we know Rafa likes and needs to use the full squad anyway.
But as a first choice that position needs to be upgraded without a shadow of a doubt.

I love Kuyt. He's one of those players that really polarises opinion. I think he's improved immeasurably in the last 12 months. As has been said he was excellent at the start of the season and then fell way which was a bit disappointing.

Sabre mentioned this a bit back - I think there's an aspect of Liverpool's play that no team in the world can compete with and that is pressing when not in possession. I think it's one of the keys to our success and the reason we make so many great teams look ordinary. As soon as we loose possession there's a swarm of red players harrying the other team, not giving them a minute to think about passing or distribution. More often than not they misplace a pass, put the ball out of play or get tackled. This type of play requires very high fitness levels and for me, Kuyt and Mascherano are the two players who do it best. I tend to watch him quite closely when we play because I know my opinion of him is different to a lot of others and the number of times he contributes to winning back possession is very impressive.

Now that Rafa's signed a new contract I'd be amazed if Kuyt was sold. He's played in every Premiership match this season so I don't see him going anywhere in the summer.

What you see is what you get from Kuyt, nothing more nothing less.

The main problem is no matter what Kuyt does - how many goals or assists he gets or how much good work he does and how much pressing and harrasing and space creating for gerrard and torres he will never turn those people who dont rate and think he isnt good enough because they look at player like lennon etc who have pace and skill and kuyt doesnt and they think that those players would bring more to the team so Kuyt coould hit 20 goals a season from right mid or striker and still people will think he isnt good enough and that opinion will never change - i for one am glad that Rafa feels different and he keeps playing him and kuyt keeps doing his stuff for the team . Deserves to play for us and deserves a new contract .

As I said in my previous post, if he continues to play like he is at the moment then I will support him. In the past his first touch has continually let him down. For a player who lacks pace the first touch has to be spot on to buy that extra nanosecond. I've never questioned the guy's attitude and he seems to have an incredible engine on him. I've slagged him in the past but I think he deserves praise at the moment for being at the top of his game. He needs to be consistent that's the bottom line and at the moment he is worthy of wearing the jersey.

I agree with many of the above posters and imo he's a candidate for one of our players of the season. In terms of consistency, stamina he's unbeatable (as posted above "what you see is what you get"..........for 50+ games per season. not many players can do that)

His goals, assists record speaks for itself - very few player can beat his record

If we want to add to the squad with an effective wide player i would say he'd have to be left footed rather than right to get into the team ahead of dirky on a regular basis  :buttrock

if he scored 20 goals a season no one would complain, and he would be worthy off a regular starting place, but he dosnt score 20 goals a season and will never have the quality to acheive that.
