And it must be fair to say Saint if the squad was really alreay more or less perfect then they would have performed better in that last season Houllier was in charge.
The difference between Rafa's 'rant' and this one from Fergie is that the team did not back up his words by beating Stoke and later on a host of other teams. However Utd normally DO the business on the pitch so Fergie never comes out looking like a. Id like to think that last weekends result will have gone some way towards throwing a spanner in Utds works. Only time will tell.

Now you are starting to ask the right questions.![]()
I have always maintained that Rafa's rant in January was a huge mistake but I will also say that that this rant from whiskey nose is equally bizare. I don't really know who to trust, I expect the truth is most probably somewhere in the middle.

I never said or intended to say the squad was perfect mate, just not as bad as some like to make out. Houllier lost his way after his heart problems and the team lost a lot of direction and confidence. The sad thing is that if Houllier had retired after his heart problems he would be remembered as being a very good and successful manager.
To suggest that anyone no matter how much a genius they are could win the CL without a decent team is ludicrous imo. So for people to suggest that Rafa basically had to start from scratch is wrong.
The squad had weaknesses BUT then again so does this one, and thats after buying over 50 players.
