Big Niall wrote:Barrera is obviously on the slide as otherwise the fight would not be made at this stage of Khan's career. Khan's promotor obviously feels Barrera has nothing left and will be a great name on Khan's sheet (think Calzaghe saying he beat Roy Jones jr, or Trevor Berbick beating Ali).

I haven't seen Barrera in years - what is he like these days?

Its going to be a tough fight i think barera hasnt hit the ring for about two years.
Barera a true fighter is capable of anything yet i feel he will be a bit rusty and khan may prove to be too slick..
Looking forward to the fight!

I am absoluttly made up here ,early birthday prezzy from my husband , Hes not long came in with me prezzy an after me going on for him to give me it or let me have a look . Its only :censored: tickets to the Khan fight next satday night, im over the moon. here not a bad word for anyone tonight, its gonna be great next saturday Mancs in the mornin an the fight at night. i cant wait to see Barrera i know hes getting on now but what a classy boxer . i cant even predict how the fight will go. Maybe Khan who has been training with Freddie Roach will have to change his style a bit.

Or maybe Barrera will still be to classy for him. its Khans biggest test in my opinion i like the lad a lot an i still believe that one day he will be world champ. So this fight maybe will test my belief in him once an for all

Gonnabe on my bezzy behaviour now with my husband until the fights over.

I would also like to see Kahn beat Barrera Max but as i  said before i really just dont know. Barrera can punch an with bags of experience i know hes gettin on but if he lands one of them lethal shots hes got on Khan it will be good night, i cant see Barrera going the distance, So if Khan can hold his own with him for a good few rounds then i think Khan will tire him out,

So im lookin at either a knockout by Barrera say in the first six or Khan will win the fight.

khan should stay away and learn his trade better.

khan has the skills of hamed, but should shed the arrogance that showed hamed that boxing is about skill and technnique and not just speed and power.

khan has stacks of ability, weak chin, but so did lewis and tommy hearns. (speaking of hearns, one of stewarts first top amateurs died today) jesus, time is passing.

I'd like khan to win, as he seems a decent bloke, but he must respect the defensive side of the sport - and footwork.

yeah its going to be really tough im 50/50 aswel on the fight really could go either way.. I watched a re run of barreras fight against naseem yesterday and have to admit barrera fights like a true champ. Very disciplined and technique is true class. That was ages ago anyway.

Khans loss against prescott rocked him but personally i think that loss has made khan a better fighter and he would have to prove that now against barrera.. It would have been better for khan to fights another dude and then re-match prescott and maybe after that fight barrera..

I've just booked the match on sky box office going to be an exciting day tomorrow.. Bring it on  :buttrock

looking forward to the fight, but think khan isn't half as good as everyone makes him out to be. For a start he's got a chin made of glass and struggles to defend himself when things get tough. Good amature, but looks fairly average as a pro.

my favourite boxer was dave 'boy' green. a real gutsy fighter back in the 80's. he had the lot for me -desire,heart, never say die attitude. top bloke who gave his all every fight he had. i really could relate to him as his alround work ethic is what it's all about, when pinned to the ropes or when down get back up & keep fighting till the end,(the LFC way) i will always believe that is the only mindset to have & over the years LFC have demonstrated that as well as he did.

And then he ran into Sugar Ray Leonard  :oh:  What a peach of a punch that was . still see his head whacking the canvas.
I liked him too, as you say real gutsy fighter pity he ran into a legend on the top of his game.

i love boxing but never heard of him.

somebody  mentioned leonard, great skills (personally I edge roy jones ahead of him due to knock out power) but I carried a grudge against leonard for many years as he beat the only boxer i ever loved (in a non jailhouse way) marvin hagler and I will never acknowledge he deserved the decision.

i don't know anything about minter except hagler beat him. how good was he, or finnegan. I hear conte was most talented british fighter ever but probably didn't have discipline.

thanks -  stream was rubbish though.

why do great boxers never retire when they still have something?

good win for khan, no where near title level yet, but if he learns to keep his chin safe then he can follow lennox lewis(who also had poor chin) and really do it.
