When you look at some of the results, whilst it's probably harsh to say the competition starts in the last 8, it's easy to see why people feel that way.There's quite a big gap between the English clubs, Barcelona and the rest and unless you get very unlucky with the draw, or catch a team putting ina perfoamce of their lives, yoiu really ought to get through. We only failed the once, and that Benfica tie was one fo them where it was hard to work out exactly how we'd lose it even though you'd just watched it.

The draw for the quarters is absolutely crucial. I don't think ANYBODY can do what we were asked to do last season unless they get unbelieveably lucky. In at least one fo the three ties you need to win in order to lift the trophy, you want at least one bye (Panethenikos, Dukla Prage, Bruges etc). You definately don't want to be looking down the gun barrel at three englsh teams on the bounce.

I still strongly fancy the Mancs to win here, but if they don't I'd take Inter in the next round all day long. Very average team IMHO. I actually think Madrid would probably beat them.
