That ruling does not come into effect until the start of the 2009-10 season.

You're right I think GYBS.  The Echo  is carrying the story :

Liverpool FC to tour Far East in summer

Mar 4 2009 By Tony Barrett

LIVERPOOL will tour the Far East this summer as part of their preparations for the 2009/10 season.

The Reds have agreed a nine day trip which will include matches in Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore.

Tour dates will be July 17 to 26, but details of opposition have not yet been finalised.

The Reds have a huge fan base in that part of the world.

In the summer of 2007 they undertook a highly successful tour to China, which included games against South China and Portsmouth.

Not good at all imo - prefer them to have pre season against English/Scottish and European oppostition to prepare them better for the season as opposed to travelling thousands of miles on a PR exercise to fulfill sponsers and to make money but i guess that is what is needed these days

so on one hand people were slagging parry for not doing enough in asia and slagging him for how we have not capitalised on marketing, now the club say they are coming to asia again and we have people complaining about it, asking for the stars to be left out, complaining about the time etc.

you couldnt make it up really

Did you ever see me slagging off Parry for not doing enough in Asia ? Im the one who isnt happy for them to be going to Asia as a pre season and would prefer them to go elsewhere as i think it will prepare them better for the coming season .

why would taking them anywhere else make much of a difference to there pre season training? where ever they go when ever they go they have to play matched to get there match fitness up together going to asia kills 2 birds with 1 stone we have been lacking for years with regards to the money we can draw in from the asia market.

i can see your point ( i think ) that you would not like them to go that far for the matches but these are players that travel world wide to play within the season so why would travelling before harm us?
