MIDDLESBROUGH VS LIVERPOOL - Lets get back into the title race.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

 :(
Absolute shambles, but it is very much expected. I have said all along and for the passed four seasons, that winning the league is totally beyond this negative Benitez. His days are numbered, and in fact if LFC had a responsible ownership, he would have been sacked a long time ago.

Fighting to secure fourth spot it might be even more difficult this season to achieve!!!!!! Our position in the first part of the season was a false one, and a lot of fans got carried away about it, but right now, IT IS REALITY.

The whole club have been in total shambles, and those people who are running it takes full blame for this failure, and on top of that list is Benitez

Is the best post on this thread.

100% correct. Our first 11 on their day is as good as any in the league, but outside that, things are thin. Our bench today proved it. In fact, having El Zahr on the pitch proved it. We need a gluttony of signings in the summer of quality. Do we have the money for it? I don't think so. We may have to settle for two really high class signings and some better quality squad players. Some players will have to be sold off, and I expect players like Lucas, Benayoun, Babel and several fringe players to exit. Honestly, it doesn't matter if the manager is replaced. It won't change the situation for us. In fact, I can only see it worsening if that happens. If Benitez really has maintained that he wanted more control of signings, then lets see if his word is true. If he signs a few lesser unknowns and squad fillers again, well, then I'd advocate that he leaves because he will no longer have this leaning stick of an excuse to fall back upon.

Good post with a lot of truths

Good post ..... you just forgot to mention who's fault it is that the squad is so weak and who bought all the poor players that fill it.

And before you say it , no it wasn't Parry :D

I dont think they were all Rafas first choice signings either mate. And if you want to get Parry in it, maybe if him and that other snake Moores hadnt have gotten the yanks invovled we might have had owners who WOULD have let Rafa get all his first choice signings.

Rafa has spent over £100 million in the last two years, I don't think anyone can complain about how much money he has had.

Net spend? He has had to recoup a lot mate and most of the time can only spend big on 1 player max and has to dish out the rest over the whole squad. Not the same as say Fergie spening 30Mil on 2 strikers, 18Mil on a midfielder, 30 mil on a defender....not the same by a mile.

Net Spend 04 - 09 Purchased Sold Nett Per Season
1 Chelsea £221,450,000 £90,300,000 £131,150,000 £26,230,000
2 Manchester City £171,020,000 £49,900,000 £121,120,000 £24,224,000
3 Liverpool £215,490,000 £98,030,000 £117,460,000 £23,492,000
4 Tottenham £230,800,000 £137,250,000 £93,550,000 £18,710,000
5 Manchester United £169,350,000 £76,050,000 £93,300,000 £18,660,000
6 Aston Villa £95,150,000 £21,255,000 £73,895,000 £14,779,000
9 Sunderland £80,580,000 £11,650,000 £68,930,000 £13,786,000
7 Newcastle £120,750,000 £83,400,000 £37,350,000 £7,470,000
8 Middlesborough £62,200,000 £32,500,000 £29,700,000 £5,940,000
10 Everton £80,100,000 £54,200,000 £25,900,000 £5,180,000
12 Arsenal £102,050,000 £81,720,000 £20,330,000 £4,066,000
11 West Ham £75,145,000 £61,625,000 £13,520,000 £2,704,000
13 Portsmouth £77,700,000 £71,010,000 £6,690,000 £1,338,000
14 Blackburn Rovers £36,100,000 £36,290,000 -£190,000 -£38,000

As you can see even on NET SPENDS , he has STILL spent more than the mancs.

Thats not possible mate I dont know how those figures have been put together.

The difference is Saint that Rafa has had to sell to make up more so although it looks like he has spent more he hasn't. You are forgetting that when you have a title wining side not much needs to be done to keep it winning. Just buy a few good players now and again to maintain the strength in depth which is already there.

When Rafa came in did he have a title winning side? Not by a mile. So by that fact alone he had a bigger job to do and had to get more for his money.

Fergie has not been building a new side since 2004 has he? They have been the most dominant team in the 90s so those figures give a false picture that is not consistent with what is the real situation.

When Rafa came he had a cl winning side in his first season with 2 of his players 9 of Houlliers, a FA cup winning team with 5 of his players 6 of Houlliers,  now he's got a full squad full of his players (apart from Hyypia, Carra and Gerrard) and what have we won since ?

Im sick of there fecking rants after every game we balls up in..

I do that on most days anyway lol

SAck RAfa lets get Joe Royal or Alan Curbishley or even that other top draw manager who will do well in Europe Big sam allerdyce.

If Rafa gets as much time as alex ferguson did im sure he will deliver the title.  RAfa has got to admit our squad is not good enough.  Babel hes been shocking. Lucas has been very poor indeed and even Caragher for me isint all that. Yes hes amazing at defending but he cant pass the ball forward more than 5 yards.

Oh its hard being a red isint it, im just dreaming of Rome now.  And for almost 20 years before RAfa come we couldnt dream about getting to a 3rd european final in 5 seasons

bad times

another one , thats the thing rafa has had time , he has had money , just not spent it wisely . Good players that rafa has bought , 6 players in 5 years . He had keane , he sold him why? i will never know , he's a arrogant :censored: rafa

Reina
Alonso
Masch
Torres
Kuyt
Riera

Why he sold Keane ill tell you mate cause he was s h t for us fulls top.  Made a mistake buying him, and got rid quickly so he could get most of the money back we spent on him.

Hes arrogant lol who do you want as manager to replace him?  Let me guess Mourinho now he is arrogant.

If you look at closely mate all the players who arent really stepping up to plate our all players around the ten million mark, arent they? If you look at man utds team they dont have many of these players as most of there players our close to the 20 million mark.  A 10 million pound player is not as good as a 20 million pound player.  Hes had money to spend but on many occasions hes wanted better players but not had the resources so had to go for the cheaper option.  So thats aload of bull mate.

Come on tell me who you want to manage liverpool?

Really the same :censored: who was one of the top strikers in the premier league? The same keane that whenever scored was dropped? How do you think that affected his confidence? Put yourself in his shoes , he was played as a loan striker a role he has never played before , he and berbatov formed the best partnership in the league last season .

Rafa puts his pride first , he can sign owen in the summer if he's still here but will not because he's got his pride . At least mourinho knows how to get wins , he puts his best squad out and does not fecking rotate . Rafa has had loads of money and like i said the money he has spend on quantity could have been used to acquire 3 more world class players .

What rafa has done for this club mate, he deserves our support from supporters.  Every year where improving in the league and also doing well in Europe where ranked number one on the points ranking system uefa have got.  Not that means anything like but come on.  Before beintez come to Liverpool where were we?

If we do get a new manger and he dosnt start of that well lets say he dosnt win anything and finishes 4th, how long would you give him before you want him to go?  Im going back to Fergy here he won bugger all for years, rafas one the biggest trophie in europe nearly adding to that the next year getting to the semi's. and winning the fa cup.

Im gettign bored even trying to argue now its pointless, lets sack him and go threw another 4 managers in the next few years lol

Mate , the difference between us and the mancs is they don't depend on 2 players , our play is built around torres and gerrard whereas the mancs pass the ball around and they loads of players who can get goals for them , vidic , ronaldo , rooney heck even fletcher .

Rafa has got to change his mentality , there are times where we are attacking but we pass the all the way back to the defense , i ahve rarely seen the mancs , chavs or arsenal do that
