Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

We need a businessman who can negotiate contracts, increase our revenue, keep an eye on costs, plan and complete projects (i.e. new stadium), etc. We don’t necessarily have to get someone who has in the past or is currently operating within football.

Great news, about 5 years too late but at least co co is gonna be off soon!
Huge pressure on Rafa now though,no more excuses for signings that dont work out.Their success or lack off will firmly lie on his shoulders.Theres no middle man anymore to blame.
We will never know the truth. We wont know who Rafa wanted, who he was blocked from signing, who Parry favoured or any of that.

But what we will know is that any signing from the transfer window to when Rafa leaves is his man.Fair play to him sticking to his guns.Im quite shocked actually that he has got his way.the two Yanks feckers must believe in him more than I thought!

Is it only me or does anyone else think that Hicks is only being buddies with Rafa because if he doesn’t he wont have a leg to stand on?

The fans hate Hicks, Parry and Gillette hate Hicks and not to long ago Hicks seemed to hate Rafa. I seem to remember him telling Rafa to shut his gob and concentrate on football and also criticised the team after we lost to Man Utd last year. Rafa still has a lot of power at the club due to many fans being vehemently loyal to him and Hicks knows this is a powerful tool to have on his side.

Parry is now out of the way and Gillette has been looking for a buyer for his share of the club for some time. If that happens before the end of the season I wouldn’t be surprised if Hicks refused to give Rafa new contract and Rafa decided to walk.

I still think that Hicks may be working towards a situation where Rafa walks in the summer. This means he could have a free hand over the club and because Rafa walked rather than being pushed he wouldn’t get the same level of criticism from the fans so could continue as Chairman.

It looks as though Hicks will gain major control over the club in the next few months and it will be quite interesting to see in which direction he is going to take the club and whether Rafa is still his new best friend.

Of course he is but it will take silly money to get him out totally. And given the current climate I cannot see anyone paying that. The next best situation will probably be Hicks + someone else/some group (I hope the Kuwaite group).

Not true atall we have evidence to prove it, forgetting about the Hillsborough anniversary one year, I wont play the numbers game with the ticketing fiasco at athens.
failing to tie down, macmanaman, Owen, gerrard.
selling us to the worst owners in the world. carlsberg, could have got us a stadium built that would have cost around 75 thousand. has put the club in debt of 400 million after whoring the club around the world for 6 years and we end up with the feckin Clampets.

thank you ciggy for your polite answer to mick, he is the one who has shown he is fecking clueless! i for one wouldn't have been so, mick as a long time member of this forum you should know beyyer than most - THINK before you post! you have shown yourself up bigtime. i will not dwell on this topic as it will upset me too much ,but anyone connected with LFC that doesn't remember the hillsborough anniversary will never ever be forgiven by me end of.

"He is the one who has shown he is fecking clueless", "you have shown yourself up bigtime".

Silly me, I should just have agreed with everyone else and got on with it. My apologies to all.

"Thank you for your polite reply to bigmick, I for one wouldn't have been so".

Yes it's a right touch that Lynds prevented you from having to be impolite, thanks for restraining yourself so well.

Anyway we're all inagreement now, Parry's a c... and if I ever bump into him I'll knock him out. Now, what shall we all agree on next?

I don't wish to fall out with anyone (especially defending Parry) but Parry agreed terms with Mcmanaman, a deal was struck, the deal was then cancelled by THE BOARD not Parry.

Owen who knows the real truth behind that one? Was it Parry or was it Houllier ?

I think what Mick (and myself come to that ) are saying is a lot of things have been blamed on Parry, no doubt many of them rightly so, but maybe some were blamed on him because he was an easier target than other more popular figures.

Possibly true but we will never know.On the flipside, his incompetence may have been responsible for other things going wrong...we hear feck all, only leaks and rumours!
At least we all agree its good he's he is going, that may be a first on Newkit..people all agreeing something, lets all hold hands! :D
Anyway the reality is Rafa has been saying he wants full control of the team and transfers and he's got it.It makes sense to me,if he left and there was the doubt that what could have been it would have been sad.Now at least he has what he wants and there is nowhere to hide if things dont get better in the near future!
Not that we are sitting to bad at present,2nd to the best team on the planet and totally nullifying an on fire Madrid away from home.Oh right sorry Im getting carried away.Madrid are shi't..Alonso and Mascherano were not superb!
Ok Madrid were shi't and our two MF were superb as well! :)

Out of the many issues the new stadium is the one that really gets me. The whole handling of it from day one has been a joke and that alone is reason enough to deem Parry’s tenure as a resounding failure. We can only imagine how much money it has cost us in terms of loss of potential revenue and no return on the investment made so far.

That will be on the fiction shelf
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.

Again to be fair, Parry has been the one person who has tried to keep things behind closed doors (I know, he would do if it was his fault :D )

Too fecking right. Him and Parry are both to blame for bringing G&H to the club. But Moores is in the background now isnt he? All he does is comes to games right?
