Whilst we can rejoice at this news the next step has to be to get rid of the Clampetts, Now the man who brought them in who sold the family silver for a ferrari it has cost him his job. Should have gone when he wanted us to play on the Hillsborough anniversary years ago, better late than never.

Fecked up in the transfer market with failure to land our number 1 targets and Chelsea United and others came along and stole our targets from under our noses.

3 days after the CL final he buggered of to Barbados instead of securing our captains future.

Brought in the worst two owners that any club could wish for never mind a club of LFC stature.

Carlsfeckingberg 9 million sponsership a year enough said.

Good ridance.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

I don't know about that Bav to be honest. At the end of the day, Parry was an employee and while he was undoubtedly being used as a pawn between Hicks and Gillette, he was doing as he was fecking told 99% of the time because he was watching his erse I should think.

Hicks is already the one who holds all the power from what I can see, and anyone thinking that rick was blocking him off is probably deluding themselves IMHO. Rafa backed himself the right horse from early in the piece, aligning himself quite firmly in the Hicks camp and the fatter and bigger bloke always looked to me like he'd prevail in the end. I don't trust either Hicks or Gillette, but given the stark choice I'd prefer the little bloke stood next to me in the trenches. He just seems a bit more trustworthy and genuine to me, and that's based on nothing more than 42 years experience of dealing with total c...s. Hicks is bad news IMHO, and time will tell if this is a good day or a bad one. He hasn't got an even stronger grip on proceedings than he has before though, he ha dtotal control already, even over Rafa.

It's a shame that as part the conditions of his no doubt chunky pay off Parry will be forbidden from writing a book. I'd put that on me crimbo list if it came out.

Hicks is good friends with the worst president the United States have ever had and hopefully will ever have, that is all I have to say on that one.

Of course this will give Hicks more control than he had, it was him and Rafa against Gillet and Parry before, now it's more or less the Rafa Hicks show.

What a crazy week.  First all the 'Rafa's on his way' rumours flare up and die down, only for Parry's confirmed exit to pop up out of nowhere.  There seems to have been a seismic shift in the boardroom power struggle this week and I just hope it doesn't knock our title and cup chases off their foundations.

Ah now it makes sense, you're an idiot. Comparing skol to carlsberg is just ridiculous. What then is a good beer in your opinion, chang perhaps?

BTW I'm not actually saying carlsberg is the greatest beer but it sure as hell isn't the worst.

SOS statement

Dear Member

Spirit of Shankly welcomes the news of Rick Parry's imminent departure from Liverpool FC. Although Rick has worked to build bridges with fans over the last year, the sad fact is his handling of the Athens ticket fiasco, the sale of the family silver to the tragicomically inept Americans and his part in the ongoing civil war at the club meant his position has been untenable for some time.

His departure appears to mark the imminent demise of his ally George Gillett. The consistent undermining of the position of manager by these two has been an insult to the principle set out by Bill Shankly some 40 years ago - that the club has a "Holy Trinity" of players, manager & fans, with the role of directors being to sign the cheques.

Tom Hicks should be under no illusion that today's announcement does nothing to enhance his position in the eyes of our members. We will continue to campaign for his and Gillett's departure as they have proven incontrovertibly that they are not fit custodians of Liverpool Football Club.

Spirit Of Shankly
nice one.

Rick Parry to leave LFC - Tony Barrett's verdict
FEB 27 2009 BY TONY BARRETT, LIVERPOOL ECHO

NEWS that Rick Parry is to leave Liverpool may come as a major surprise – but the simple truth is, someone had to go. The Anfield hierarchy has been hopelessly split for some time now with Parry’s relationship with co-owner Tom Hicks having completely broken down. Last April, Hicks told the world that he wanted to remove Parry from his position as chief executive only to see that move blocked by George Gillett.

Today, Hicks has got his way and Parry will leave at the end of the season by which time he will have clocked up eleven years of service with the club. The words “mutual consent” will almost inevitably be used in the official statement which will confirm his departure and in this case that phrase is unquestionably accurate.
Hicks does not want Parry running his club and Parry does not want to run the club if Hicks continues to own it – it is as simple as that.

Speculation will inevitably surface suggesting Parry’s departure is because he has lost some sort of power struggle with Rafa Benítez but the ECHO understands that this is not the case. In actual fact, today’s developments have come about because of an acknowledgement on all sides that the current situation in the boardroom cannot be allowed to continue. No successor to Parry has been named yet but the early front runner for the role will be the club’s commercial director Ian Ayre, brought to that role by Hicks.

But whoever moves into the role will be faced with the immediate task of having to try and bring unity to a club hopelessly split for two years. Though Hicks and Gillett have tried to convince people they’ve buried their differences, there is ample evidence this isn’t the case.

However, the very fact that Gillett is no longer trying to keep close ally Parry in position suggests that either the American’s position is weakening or he has decided to back down on this issue because he has realised that it is almost impossible for a chief executive to function unless he has the full support of both owners.
Parry’s departure will not be mourned by some Liverpool fans with many holding him partially responsible for bringing Hicks and Gillett in.

There are also those who continue to blame Parry for the ticketing fiasco which left thousands of supporters without tickets for the European Cup final in Athens two years ago. But there will also be those – even amongst Parry’s harshest critics – who view today’s news with more than a little discomfort and unease as it suggests that Hicks’ hand is strengthening at Anfield. For while Parry may not have been the most popular employee at Liverpool Football Club, his commitment to the Reds was never in question by those who saw his work at close quarters.

He will remain in situ until the end of this season when the parting of the ways will officially take place.
But until that happens, Liverpool must move to ensure that the club’s executive tasks are not undermined by Parry becoming a lame duck. The manager’s contract is still to be signed, there are transfer targets to be pursued and there are also countless other tasks which the chief executive has to perform on a daily basis for the club to be able to function. It is therefore incumbent on Hicks and Gillett to ensure the running of the club is maintained even though such a seismic change is about to take place.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Some defend players, some defend the manager, Heimdall defends the f in sponsor!   And he has the gall to call Supersub "an idiot"

Bring back Crown Paints, I don't mind Carlsberg as a sponsor, don't rate their lager much. I'd probably prefer drinking Carlsberg to drinking Crown Paints, but I know which I prefer as a sponsor
