hamann, riise and were all poor. luis garcia and josemi were our best 2 players. we were ******. we hoofed the ball forward too much instead of playing thru the middle, spreading it wide and getting crosses in to the box. cisse should've started wit hamann on the bench and gerrard in his natural position. Even at 1-0 down we didn't look like scoring or even wanting to score. Despite the disallowed goal we deserved to loose.
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

I think first half tactics cost us. We should never have played with one up, and Benitez knew he had made an error because he switched it back second half. It seems he is still experementing with formation and positions. Unfortunately you cannot do that in the Premiership without getting hurt. Aside from that no one performed. Ive seen Bolton play better yet they still turned us over. These guys are going to have to learn fast. Benitez included. As much as we talk of giving people time, it just does not happen. We will be straight into them if things dont go well. Which ever way you break it down, todays showing was just not acceptable.

I thought Banitez learned from the game against Tottenham.

I really think he got the tactics wrong today, Stevie G should be played in the middle with Alonso and Didi on the bench, Sami's nose looked a mess! :(

Tactics are not always good in football. You either play openly or you don't.

Jesus Christ what is happening on the forum. The first major topic that dominated the forum when I first signed on was was about getting GH out and now we have done it we expect futher miracles. We do not have the money of Chelsea,  we have a new manager who hasnt had enough time to get things across and a group of players who for the last five years have played one dimensional football. Imagine what it must be like for the players when they look up and see no Owen or Heskey everything has changed and it will take time. We should thank our luicky stars Rafa came to us coz he had the nuts to make the neccesary changes. If that involves us getting beaten now and again and not starting off playing that great I will accept it no question coz I do not want to see Liverpool teams in the future EVER play the way we did towards the of the GH reign. How long did it take Ferguson and Wenger to mould their teams and we expect what exactly after 4 or 5 games. The signings he has brought in so far look like they could play the part and give us what we have been missing. Regarding Stevie G in the eyes of Rafa he is just another player an important one none the less but only one. If he can play at a higher standard out of position than the others then so be it its not the Stevie G show the team has to comes first ( and from the stories in the press I would say that was the case , sorry terrible joke).
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

Its gonna take longer without Owen but we need to be patient. We are known for giving managers time and money to build so lets not forget the fundamentals of Liverpool. We have been in the business of winning too long to start acting like the fans of Chelsea and Arsenal. im proud of our tradition it elevates a liverpool fan above the other football mortals. Until any other team match our achievemnets in Europe we should be putting all our energies and hope in whoever is in charge in order that they can return the glory days. Lets not think about this season neccersarily but the one after that when El Liverpool sail like the spanish armada to the title. Go on imagine the final game of the season at Anfield with Stevie G holding aloft the trophy the cheers that go around as each player holds it up and the unbelievable noise when Rafa picks up the trophy, the atmosphere, Proper Bo.

You might be straight into them but dont talk for everyone!

Yes we played bad!
But our boss said it will take time! Infact 3 seasons he said to be a genuine challanger for major honours!
6 Games is hardly a long time!

Patience is a virtue i wish more people would take that on board!

Until Rafa knows what systems he can cant use what players he can cant use in what positions then he isnt learning anything about his squad or the english premiership!

As well as our player learning the fundimentals of Benitez' way of football

I think that there will be a few more games like this during the season.
So either bay for blood now or except that rebuilding our team is going to be an easy overnight success.

Onwards and upwards

If not the Premiership then the Champions League or the UEFA cup.

Even I cant let myself imagine us winning the Champions league, it makes me feel dizzy. I keep on asking Santa but the t.wat doesnt do anything about it.

im embarrassed, that was sh*t. i cant believe that we were outplayed by Bolton, a team of misfits.

i know its early days etc but thats no excuse for being second for every ball, its no excuse for being clueless. i could forvive it if it was a one off but its not, the fact is we dont attack and when we try to we look like a team of scholboys and give the ball away.

the major difference today was passion, bolton had a passion and they chased us all game, never let us settle. when they had the ball they just seem to be able to stroll forward and get a chance

im p*ssed off

Correct but this team of "misfits" are playing as a  TEAM. And before I hear another post about giving time for players to "gel" let me remind everyone that Chelsea (Half a New team) , Bolton (3 new players) and other teams in the prem haven't taken long to settle in  ???

I actually believe RB will get it right and is a good maanger but I'm sure he is learning fast that you can't experiment in the prem cos there are very few sides who will allow you the time and there isn't too much between the teams in terms of ability.

Pushing Gerard out to the right in the second half to accommadate Hamann and Alonso (Essentially 2 very similar type of players) didn't work and I doubt we wil see BOTH in the middle of the park again this season.

I've gotta say while that was a poor performance which lacked teamwork and confidence etc- the new players were cause for optimism.  We all saw Garcia score a good goal and Andy Gray pointed out his good positions, there were many moments where he showed alot of tricks and looked like he could breeze past players easily, and he looked like someone who really wanted to get involved and get on the ball- to me he seemed like an intelligent Diouff (which i consider to be a good thing).
Alonso was criticised by Andy Gray for over-doing the long ball which i agree he did do- but to be fair he clearly has brilliant vision and Gereard esk apassing ability, in fact the main criticism of Gerard is in over-doing the long ball. Otherwise Alonso looked up for it- he put in some good tackles and he's a big guy so on that game both players look like they will fit into the premiership well. I just hope Gerard and Alonso are given a chance to both play centre midfield which i expect they will do at Anfield.  I can understand wanting to play Hamman as well for his first match especially away and against the likes of Ococha
