she was strong and stubborn, sadly her stubbornness was on things that fecked us over big style.
she stood up to argentina, she stood up at the iranian embassy seige, she stood up to europe, she was good at standing up to other countries, however she was sh1t at backing her own workers. That said I think a lot of workers needed a kick up the @rse as they were hiding behind unions.

she f*cked over my city and I was happy to see her in tears when she got booted.

back in the day when when dad was around (god rest his soul), he had a fantastic job prior to Thatcher coming to power.

then SHE created a recession (due to her :censored: policies) and my dads company started to struggle - all 1258 people were made redundent and it was a while before he got another job. prior to that my dad was never out of work, never sponged off the dole. he said it was a humiliation to claim off the dole.

however, he managed to secure himself another good skilled job, but it was nothing to do with thatcher him getting it. In fact her policies decimated this country for years

I'd have her in power over any Labour PM any day.

Its the labour policies of Tony Blair and latterly Gordon Brown that have introduced all the aspects of English life we despise - E.g. The human rights bill (via our now closer ties with the EC under Labour), The monetary policy that has in part aided the recession

Margaret Thatcher made mistakes but her conservative stance allowed for our nations identity to be preserved. Found this article in the telegraph that sums it up really -

"Margaret Thatcher at her peak would sweep to power in a general election held today, according to an opinion poll for The Daily Telegraph.

The YouGov survey emphatically confirms the enduring political appeal of the country's first woman prime minister, who left office undefeated 18 years ago.

But the poll demonstrates that long after she has left office, the Thatcherite legacy continues to shape Britain. It shifted the political axis from state-centred collectivism to private enterprise and the free market, forcing Labour to abandon old-style socialism.

For someone who was such a divisive figure, Lady Thatcher's position at the top of the pantheon of 20th-century leaders is in itself extraordinary. Apart from Churchill and Mr Blair, barely any other post-war prime minister gets a mention.

Even one in 10 of Labour voters, for whom she was a hate figure, acknowledged her greatness, as did 75 per cent of Tory voters."

Politics aside, I found myself damn well attracted to her....In fact, I would have lashed her out if it.....

yeah sorry - i wasnt old enogh to remember the impact the falklands had on her career mate just know from what i have read and seen since she did a bloody good thing with the falklands- imo off course and looked after the armed forces - same with major after the first gulf war - labour on the other hand have just cut us in both budgets and manpower and stretched us beyond all hope .

the recession is global, not of labours doing solely

it would not matter who was in, the product would still be the same
