Bono the hypocrite - At last somebody has the guts to say it

In today's paper some charity group criticised Bono for pretending to be this humanitarian while putting all his money offshore in the Netherlands (some tax break).

Before this, he had to pay zero income tax on his royalties in Ireland as artists had an exemption (crazy but true). When this exemption was scrapped a couple of years ago U2 moved their money abroad.

That hypocritical pr*ck still lectures governments on what to do with their tax money. Nobody has the guts to criticise him in public as he is "the saviour of the world" until now. The charity says that he is stealing from the poor in Ireland by avoiding his fair share of tax.

The scumbag deserves to lose the respect of the people especially at a time of economic hardship

I don't understand the hatred some people have for Bono. Honestly, it baffles me. He can come across as a pompous pr*ck at times, but he'd be the first to admit it himself. As for the group moving all their assets abroad, this is very old news. It had a lot to do with the building of their new studio in Dublin, and for the fact that it makes sense to secure the band financially if they planned to go on huge tours, which they are. PopMart almost bankrupt the band. I'm sure they'd ideas of never making that mistake again. Regardless, the charity work the man has done in his lifetime deserves some respect. It's easy to scoff at people who do this, yet because they are only human and not Jesus Christ himself for not giving up all their riches, they should be condemned for that? Bollox. Now that's hypocrisy and irony all in one basket.

you are full of the typical hero worship bulls*it :censored: that us Irish have been brought up to believe about he U2 who were the worlds biggest band when Ireland was :censored: in the 1980s.

I am not saying that he should give up his wealth, just that he should pay tax. I pay about one third of my income in tax, should I avoid it all and give about 10% to charity and get good publicity for it?

the money that he has raised is othe people's money. k

He is a scumbag

I must admit, I like to take the p!ss out of Bono. And I do think he comes across as hypocritical.

But then again, he could have chose not to do his "good deeds2 and then he wouldn't have got the criticism.

Damned if you do, not damned if you don't.
