cue some bollox about buying it etc etc etc ad nauseum

2nd in both cases peewee

thanks, I didn't actually know the answer   :D

It is hard to go from fourth to first though Pee in one season, that's why we had a mountain to climb this season. I've always been quite keen on my basecamp theory, in that you have to get in amongst the rarified atmos' and then press on from there ideally.

As I said earlier though, this isn't rafa's first season it's his fifth. The season before he took over we were fourth, since then four seasons have passed by. In the last of them, we were still fourth.

true, no real progress. trophies in the first two seasons then nothing in the next 2, and even a drop in league position the 3rd to 4th season

but surely its not as black and white as everyone suggests - have to look at the other three clubs around us and what they do.

I really find it amazing that someone wants the manager to go right now - who the hell do we bring in right now to replace rafa ? 2nd in league - more points at this stage of the season than in the last 18 years is it ? second in league , prob not going to win the league but we could have our best finish for years - last 16 of the cl and people want rafa gone now ?!?

The reason why Rafa should stay is because he actually heightened our expectation of the club dispite we don't have the money to buy any top class player. He just had to make do with what he can get. If Rafa is the manager of Chelsea, Man U, RM or Barcelona. He would be God by now. People would be praising him as the best manager in the world. The fact is there is so much you can do as a manager and it is really up to the player to perform. I'm not sure if any other manager who can get more out of us than Rafa can. It might be worse if we have someone like Fergie, Scolari, Morinhno in charge. If you compare our team with Man U or Chelsea, you can already see we have some holes in our starting 11 already. Some may argue it is because Rafa did bad in the transfer market. I think it is correct to some point but when we are only able to afford paying 8 million for Riera, we can't expect him to become a 20 million pounds player. My point is Rafa is getting the best out of our lineup and is able to compete with the best of them with much less resources (in addition with the stupid Yanks and Rick Parry). I simply think there won't be any other manager who is able to deal with all this and perform. So, Rafa should stay.

did arsenal progress last year ? have villa progressed tis year ? Im sorry peewee but think thats rubbish . teams can progress without winning trophies - and just because you win a fa cup or cc doesnt mean you progress - what happens say we win cc but come 7th ? is that progress ? did you deam us going from 3rd to 4th as backwards progress ?

its simple mate. since we last won something we have gone from 3rd to 4th in the league, so thats going from winning things and being in a certain position, to not winning things and being in a lower position (not talking about this season). so tell me how that can possibly be seen as progress?

Do you class progress as being worse than we were before, thats not progress mate. Look I know your opinion on rafa but now you are arguing things for the sake of arguing.

This season we have progressed - have we not ? yet you want him sacked ? Are we better off than before rafa got here ? have we progressed with rafa here ? the facts suggest we have .

well houllier won more, he finished higher so in that context we have gone backwards.

we just have a different idea about progression, we progressed from his first season then went backwards in his fourth season, so we are not progressing

It's that simple.

You only have to look at some of the replies on here by some people to see that they just do not have a reasoned response for their position formed in their head.

The inane ramblings of an idiot.

I don't counter dim-witted arguments as no matter where you're from, bullsh*t baffles brains.

You aren't here to learn. You aren't here to form opinions.

You're here to GIVE opinions.

Once a poster with all the intellectual agility of a carrot has made their amoeba-like mind up, all the reasoned and informed debate in the World won't change it. That is "FACT." (Said by you, no doubt, in a sort of post-counseling "I love me" way, hinting at the troubled childhood where you were shunned by those around you, only to find your one true purpose of being "The Village Idiot", meaning you would forever be tarnished with the disdainful looks of faces past, and a faint odour of rotting pilchards.)

Tell me, though, if you are able:

How do you counter; "Rafa is a c*nt and I want him sacked"?

I await your response with baited breath...

Watch yer mouth fatman...you might end up with another card.

This "The inane ramblings of an idiot"...This "

And your inability to realise that I am not the cartoon character in my signature is a prime example of your lacking intellect and sagging mind.

Now go and fetch the paper for your spaniel, bitch.

Nobody's listening to you fatman.     :talktothehand

Ooooh, I know!

I mean - it's like opening up with; "Watch yer mouth fatman...you might end up with another card", isn't it?

The state of the World today...

But we went backwards under GH not under Rafa - it was with Gh that we missed out on cl and then ended up 30 points behind the winner - so we didnt go backwards from that league position with GH under rafa we went backwards under gh . So we have more points at this stage of the season than in 18 odd years ? is that not progress ?
