Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Wed Feb 25, 2009 8:43 am

Biggest game of the season tonight and the topics on the top of the forum are about Rafa in or out, whilst the RM topic is down the bottom of the page.

Whats going on FFS?
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Yeah that sounds about right, but next season we want the FA cup as well or he's out.

GYBS wrote:before rafa arrived we ended the season 30 points behind the winners . So now we are second ahead of both chelsea and arsenal and only behind the mancs people wanting him sacked right now ? Some saying he is poor and poor squad etc ? How are we second at the moment ? Only been beaten once in the league as well as beating chelsea twice and the mancs once so far . Also with regards the spending , the mancs have bought around 9 to ten player of 15 million plus , chelsea around 12 while rafa has been able to buy a grand total off - drumroll time - three ! ! . So while rafa may of spent 150 mil he has had to use that money to build a whole squad bar three players plus a whole bunch of youngsters , while the mancs and chelsea have just used the same amount of money to buy 20 mil pound stars to just bolster an already impressive squads .

Rafa has bought and sold many players
Its his team now
Competing is all very well but winning is everything
I dont want a team that "competes"
I want a team that "wins"
Otherwise we accept failure
Being second means nothing to me
People keep saying it as if its an achievement
Once again I repeat we cannot accept failure
Rafa has had five years and millions of pounds
We were top of the league at Christmas
Now were not

Haven't you heard, Ramos is keeping the seat warm for Rafa next season and Rafa's keeping it warm at Anfield for you!

Maybe there is a twist to the Rafa contract talks yet to come, maybe he's seeing how the next few weeks/months go and thinking of moving back to the Bernie Inn. A lot of speculation on here paints the owners and Parry as evil that we need rid of and Rafa is the innocent victim. I wonder if he really is as "innocent" as some make out and maybe the public comments are made to make sure people in Spain and Europe hear it as well as US, UK and ROW.

Why doesnt it work like that?
Who says so?

If he was a tactical genius boss world class top manager for winning in Istanbul why isnt he an idiotic moronic lower league useless manager for losing in Athens?

You really are a clueless bell end.  :Oo:

Hello mr potty mouth
Now instead of sitting there ranting like Rafa could you please enlighten me with your wit and wisdom as to how youve come to the conclusion that I am the extremity of a penis?

They mean more to me than the vast majority of you, quite simply, and I will therefore defend them OVER you.

Nice soap box number, like we care any more about you than you do us.

I care about LIVERPOOL FC. The fans, owners, players, coaches, board and manager will come and go, but I care about the club not the individuals. I want what is best for the club, if that means criticising players and manager for poor performances and for not cutting it at the club then so be it. Criticising the fans, especially other fans on here, is pointless because they have no control over the direction of the club - the players and manager do. Some will go a bit further and target or blame the owners, board, Rick Parry etc, but that still doesn't mean that the players and manager should be excused any blame.

I'm sure "the manager and the players who take the club and its fans to their hearts", some are trying, but the fact is that doesn't mean they are right for the club. Should we take the person who's been to the most LFC matches in his life and make him the manager because he cares about the club? No. You go for the best manager, the best players the manager can get and afford given the financial constraints, and you give everything time. Rafa has had time, he's changed players and still hasn't cracked it. If we don't even manage 2nd this season then it surely has to be time to rethink.

Not quite as simple as that, I said a while back that the crunch will be after the game at old trafford. If he :-

- Wins the league then he can stay
- If he turns our league form around and maybe gets 86+ points then I'd give him ONE more season to win it or go
- If we're losing more ground and lose at old trafford then he might as well go, no sustained challenge likely

Winning the European Cup would be nice, but he can't rely on major cup finals every other season to save his neck. I can't see him doing enough, him going now would give someone else a chance to but with the same players. I'm certainly not in the "stay" camp, those in it can all stay camp :D , but that rather reads as being an unconditional "stay" which I disagree any manager should get.

Probably best to put me in "undecided" for now, it's more a "judge at the end of the season/after the manc game"

I suggest all those in the "stay" camp give themselves a pat on the back if they haven't already for being "true" Liverpool fans etc, good on yer (sense very sarcastic tone)

If he wins the champions league this season (i just don't see him winning the league)...he can stay.

If not......he has to go...

Thats a pretty fair KPI rite ? (key performance index)... :p

KPI = Key performance indicator, mate.

If we get to the semis of Champs League he can stay.

I don't think it matters what we win, I think rafa wants to go and therefore he will go. the only question is whether he will have the balls to be honest and walk away or whether he gets pushed, he wants the second option
