I suppose the only real question is who plays on the right Benny or Kuyt ?

I think Riera will get 1 and then Torres to get at least 2. Maybe Yossi or Kuyt to bag another.

Oh I don't know S@int, I can think of another one. It's this.

Assuming that Rafa agrees with most everyone else that Fabio Aurelio is the best left back at the club, why isn't he playing? I know this is our third match in about six weeks and tiredness maybe creeping in, I know we like to change our team, to twitch it a bit, to wriggle it a fraction to take account of the opposotion and all that old sh!t, but really.

Presuemably we've studied video of the man City right back and feel that whereas he might be able to shut out Aurelio's particular method of putting his left foot around it and bending a cross in, Dossena on the other hand has a distictive style which he'll find much harder to deal with. Perhaps it was Dossena's third place (a PB no doubt) in the three times round the pitch Thursday challenge, and Aurelio's night before Rice and Beans repeating on him did him no favours.

Who knows? Not me that's for sure. Looks to me like rotation for rotations sake, tryign to be clever for trying to be clevers sake in a team which has enough forced changes already, but that's just me. It wouldn't even be so bad if I thought Dossena turning in a MOM performance today would earn him the shirt in midweek, but it won't. If fit Aurelio will play on Wednesday, we all know that. We'll play our strongest team, funny that.

I've just thought of another question as well mate. Given the fact that neither Alonso nor Gerrard are playing, who's going to take any offensive free-kicks we get? Kuyt? Oh that's OK then.

Rafa clearly doesn’t like playing Aurelio in consecutive games when they are only 3 days apart due to his injury problems, and would rather play him in the Madrid game. I would have gone for Insua myself and started Aurelio in Madrid.

Well he is Brazillian I suppose. Perhaps he can take corners as well while he's at it.

I'm not having a pop at Dossena here by any means as he has started to play well, for him. I'm simply making the point that it just looks to me like we can't resist having a little shuffle, and it's pointless.

UNless of course we're saying that Aurelio really can't play two games inside a week, and if we are we'd better add the position of left back to the list of ones which need sorting after five years of the Rafalution. I say that because we can't surely be trying to kid ourselves that Dossena is the long term answer to the question. If he is, what was the question again as I've forgot?
